Aidan Treacy
Aidan Treacy (born 1991) is an Irish hurler who plays for Offaly Championship club St Rynagh's and at inter-county level with the Offaly senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a centre-back. Career Born in Banagher, County Offaly, Treacy first came to hurling prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the St Rynagh's club. He eventually progressed onto the club's senior team and has since won two County Championship titles. Treacy first appeared on the inter-county scene with the Offaly under-21 team during the 2012 Leinster Championship. He made his first appearance with the Offaly senior hurling team during the 2017 National League. Treacy secured his first silverware during the 2021 season, when Offaly claimed the National League Division 2A and Christy Ring Cup titles. Banagher
Banagher ( or ''Beannchar na Sionna'') is a town in Ireland, located in the midlands, on the western edge of County Offaly in the province of Leinster, on the banks of the River Shannon. It had a population of 3,000 at the height of its economic growth in the mid-19th century; as of 2016, the population was over 1,700. Banagher was historically an important strategic location on the River Shannon and was one of the few crossing points between the provinces of Leinster and Connacht. It thus became a natural focus for a number of historical buildings, including a 19th-century Martello Tower and a number of castles around the town, which were built in the 14th and 15th centuries. The town used to be the focus of thriving river business and was an important stop on the Dublin to Limerick navigation. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire GAA, Lancashire, London GAA, London and Warwickshire GAA, Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York GAA, New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league. Teams representing subdivisions of counties, such as Fingal GAA, Fingal and Down GAA, South Down have also participated at various times. 2021 National Hurling League
The 2021 National Hurling League was the 90th season of the National Hurling League for county teams. The English county teams (London, Warwickshire and Lancashire) did not compete due to the COVID-19 pandemic travel restrictions. In February 2021 it was announced that the league would be delayed due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games and that cancelling it would be a last resort. The league began on 8 May 2021. Eir Sport and RTÉ provided live TV coverage of the league on Saturday nights. TG4 broadcast Sunday afternoon games. The highlights programmes were RTÉ2's ''League Sunday'' on Sunday evenings, and TG4's ''GAA 2021'' on Monday evenings. and were the joint winners. Christy Ring Cup
The Christy Ring Cup () is an annual hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. Originally introduced as a second-tier competition, it is currently the third tier overall in the inter-county hurling championship system. Each year, the champions of the Christy Ring Cup are promoted to the Joe McDonagh Cup, and the lowest finishing team is relegated to the Nicky Rackard Cup. Kildare are the 2022 title-holders. The competition is named in honour of Christy Ring, a legendary player from Cork. The Christy Ring Cup, which was introduced in 2005, replaced the All-Ireland B Hurling Championship (1974-2004). Between 2005 and 2017 the Christy Ring Cup was the second tier hurling championship. 2019 Offaly Senior Hurling Championship
The 2019 Offaly Senior Hurling Championship was the 121st staging of the Offaly Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Offaly County Board in 1896. The championship began on 30 March 2019 and ended on 20 October 2019. Coolderry were the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Belmont at the quarter-final stage. On 20 October 2019, St Rynagh's won the championship following a 0–16 to 1–12 defeat of Birr in the final at Bord na Móna O'Connor Park. 2021 Christy Ring Cup
The 2021 Christy Ring Cup was the 17th staging of the Christy Ring Cup since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 2005. The cup began on 26 June 2021 and ended on 1 August 2021. The final was played on 1 August 2021 at Croke Park in Dublin, between Offaly and Derry, in what was their first ever meeting in a final. Offaly won the match by 0-41 to 2-14 to claim their first ever cup title. Offaly's Eoghan Cahill was the Ring Cup's top scorer with 0-36.
