Aidan Downes
Aidan Downes (born 24 July 1988) is an Irish professional footballer who last played for Bohemians in the League of Ireland Premier Division. He is currently playing with Mornington SC, a club based in Melbourne, Australia... Career Everton Downes joined Everton's Academy in 2005 from Tolka Rovers in his native Ireland. Everton paid Tolka £90,000 compensation to secure the signature of the youngster. Aidan quickly progressed through the youth set-up at Everton until an injury suffered at the end of the 2005/2006 season slowed him down. In the latter part of the season, Downes linked up with Yeovil on loan, scoring his first senior goal at Swansea. Everton released the striker at the end of the season. The 2007–08 season was the 128th season of competitive football in England. Club football European competitions In October 2007, Arsenal equalled the UEFA Champions League record victory with a 7–0 win over Slavia Prague at the Emirates Stadium. The record was broken the following month when Liverpool defeated Beşiktaş 8–0 at Anfield. All four English clubs competing in the Champions League reached the quarter-finals, resulting in three all-English ties during the competition's latter stages. Liverpool eliminated Arsenal in the quarter-finals, but lost the semi-final to Chelsea, who went on to meet Manchester United in the final in Moscow. The Republic of Ireland national under-21 football team, is the national under-21 football team of the Republic of Ireland and is controlled by the Football Association of Ireland. The team played its first match in 1978 and has competed in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship since 1988. Oriel Park
Oriel Park is a UEFA Category 2 football stadium located on the Carrickmacross Road in Dundalk, Ireland. The stadium is the home ground of Dundalk Football Club and is owned and operated by the club on land that has been leased from the Casey Family Trust since 1936. The ground has a capacity of 3,100 for European matches (i.e. 3,100 seats) and 4,500 for domestic games (i.e. with the remainder standing). Oriel Park's attendance record is an estimated 18,000, set in 1982 for Dundalk's European Cup Winners' Cup second round tie against Tottenham Hotspur F.C. Usage Oriel Park is primarily used for Dundalk F.C. home matches and training and its facilities are also available for booking. The ground's public bar, 'The Lilywhite Lounge', is available for social events, as is the members' bar - the Enda McGuill Suite.
