Aidan Caves
Aidan Caves (born 3 January 1995) is a Canadian professional track cyclist. He won the silver medal at the 2015 Pan American Track Cycling Championships in the scratch and at the 2016 Pan American Track Cycling Championships in the team pursuit also setting the Canadian Record with his teammates. Later he went on to win the gold medal and champions jersey in the Omnium at 2016 Pan American Track Cycling Championships. Back in 2014, he participated at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Track Cycling
Track cycling is a bicycle racing sport usually held on specially built banked tracks or velodromes using purpose-designed track bicycles. History Track cycling has been around since at least 1870. When track cycling was in its infancy, it was held on velodromes similar to the ones used today. These velodromes consisted of two straights and slightly banked turns, though they varied more in length and material than the modern 250m track. One appeal of indoor track racing was that spectators could be easily controlled, and hence an entrance fee could be charged, making track racing a lucrative sport. Early track races attracted crowds of up to 2,000 people. Indoor tracks also enabled year-round cycling for the first time. ''The Canadian Record'' was a weekly newspaper of Canadian, Texas. History The publication began around 1890, and the newspaper cites 1893 as its beginning date. In 1948 Ben Ezzell acquired the newspaper. He opposed the Vietnam War and supported the Civil rights movement. Circa 1993 Ezzell's daughter, Laurie Ezzell Brown, took control of the newspaper after Ben Ezzell died. In 2023 Brown, citing stress from the constant work, decided to put the publication up for sale and to end making print copies. Publication itself had ceased. It was the final print newspaper in Canadian. 2018 Commonwealth Games
The 2018 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXI Commonwealth Games and also known as Gold Coast 2018, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth that were held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, between 4 and 15 April 2018. It was the fifth time Australia had hosted the Commonwealth Games and the first time a major multi-sport had an equal number of events for male and female athletes. 4,426 athletes including 300 para-athletes from 71 Commonwealth Games Associations took part in the event.
