Ahn Hae-ryong
Ahn Hae-ryong (born 1961) is a South Korean documentary filmmaker and cinematographer. Ahn is an Asia Press writer and focused on the forgotten history of Korea by travelling in East and Southeast Asia. Ahn's documentary film ''My Heart Is Not Broken Yet'' (2009) documents former comfort woman Song Sin-do. He released ''The Truth Shall Not Sink with Sewol'' in 2014 and won Grand Prize at the Fukuoka Asian Film Festival in 2015. ''My Heart Is Not Broken Yet'' () is a 2007 South Korean documentary film which tells the story of a former comfort woman, Song Sin-do, who filed a lawsuit against the Japanese government to seek redress for the comfort women who were drafted into sexual slavery for the Japanese troops during World War II. Although the court dismissed the case after a decade-long battle, Song firmly stands, defiant of the ruling: "My case may have been broken in court. But my heart is not broken yet." Song Sin-do
Song Sin-do ( ko, 송신도; November 24, 1922 – December 16, 2017) was a Korean former comfort woman who had been living and campaigning in Japan for an official apology from the Japanese government. She had also recognised the need for the history of comfort women to be taught in Japanese schools to prevent a recurrence of the situation. Background Song Sin-do escaped a forced marriage at the age of 16 years by signing up to assist on the Japanese front line. However, like many thousands of young Korean and Chinese girls who believed they would work in factories or as nurses' assistants, Song Sin-do was taken to a comfort house to work as a sexual slave for seven years. During this time Song was forced to give away two babies to local families and beaten repeatedly.
