Ahmed Hussein
Ahmed Moustafa Hussein ( ar, أحمد مصطفى حسين; born 25 May 1983) is an Egyptian former swimmer who specialized in backstroke events. He is a two-time Olympian, and a three-time All-American swimmer for the Arizona State Sun Devils at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, where he majored in and graduated with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Hussein made his first Egyptian team at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, where he competed in the men's 200 m backstroke. Swimming in heat two, he edged out Singapore's Gary Tan to earn a fifth spot and thirty-sixth overall by 0.22 of a second in 2:06.10. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Hussein extended his program by qualifying for two swimming events. LA84 Foundation
The LA84 Foundation (known until June 2007 as the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles) is a private, nonprofit institution created by the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee to manage Southern California's endowment from the 1984 Olympic Games. Under an agreement made in 1979, 40 percent of any surplus was to stay in Southern California, with the other 60 percent going to the United States Olympic Committee. The total surplus was $232.5 million. Southern California's share was approximately $93 million. Sung Min (swimmer)
Sung Min (also ''Seong Min'', ko, 성 민; born October 15, 1982) is a South Korean former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and backstroke events. He represented South Korea in three editions of the Olympic Games (2000 to 2008), and held multiple national championship titles and swimming records in the relay freestyle and backstroke events (50, 100, and 200 m). Sung had also won a total of five bronze medals, including one from the 50 m backstroke, at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea, and at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar. Career Sung's Olympic debut came as a seventeen-year-old teen at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. Swimming At The 2004 Summer Olympics – Men's 200 Metre Backstroke
The men's 200 metre backstroke event at the 2004 Olympic Games was contested at the Olympic Aquatic Centre of the Athens Olympic Sports Complex in Athens, Greece on August 18 and 19. There were 36 competitors from 30 nations. Each nation had been limited to two swimmers in the event since 1984. U.S. swimmer Aaron Peirsol won a gold medal in this event, with an Olympic record time of 1:54.95. Markus Rogan, silver medalist in the 100 metre backstroke, added another silver for Austria in the same stroke, in an outstanding time of 1:57.35. Romania's Răzvan Florea, who finished behind Rogan by 0.21 of a second, earned a bronze in 1:57.56. Peirsol became the fifth swimmer and fourth American in Olympic history to claim titles in two backstroke events. Derya Büyükuncu (; born 2 July 1976) is a six-time Olympic backstroke and butterfly swimmer from Turkey. The tall athlete at is a member of Galatasaray Swimming. His coach is Zehra Büyükuncu. He participated in six consecutive Summer Olympic Games: 1992 Barcelona, 1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney, 2004 Athens, 2008 Beijing, 2012 London.
