Ahmed Gomaa ( ar, أحمد جمعة; born 16 August 1988), is an Egyptian footballer who plays for Egyptian Premier League side Al Masry, and the Egyptian national team as a forward. Club career Abou Bedway In 2003, during Ramadan when Gomaa was playing football with his friends, Abou Bedway's manager, Ibrahim Abou Sita, offered him a trial at the club; Gomaa didn't like the idea to join a football club and wanted to play football only as a hobby, but his family and friends convinced him that joining the club may be the start of a great football career. The 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (abbreviated as AFCON 2017 or CAN 2017), known as the Total 2017 Africa Cup of Nations for sponsorship reasons, was the 31st edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, the biennial international men's football championship of Africa organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Port Said Stadium Riot
On 1 February 2012, a massive riot occurred at Port Said Stadium in Port Said, Egypt, following an Egyptian Premier League football match between Masry and Ahly. Seventy-four people were killed and more than 500 were injured after thousands of Al Masry fans stormed the stadium stands and the pitch following a 3–1 victory by their club, and violently attacked Ahly fans using clubs, stones, machetes, knives, bottles and fireworks, trapping them inside the El Ahly partition of the stadium. Many of the deaths were due to police refusal to open the stadium gates, trapping the Ahly fans inside, leaving some to die, and killing others in a stampede while trying to escape.
