Abdullah Al-Ahmar
Abdullah Al-Ahmar ( ar, عبدالله الأحمر) (born 6 June 1936) is a Syrian politician and prominent member of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party. Biography Born at Al-Tall, Ahmar joined the Ba'ath Party in the 1950s and graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Damascus in 1964. Soon after, he was appointed as a governor of Hama (1967–1969) then Idlib (1969–1970). In 1970, the regional Ba'ath conference elected him to the Syrian Regional Command together with Hafez Al-Assad after an internal coup in the party that expelled Salah Jadid's faction from power. A few months later, Assad's faction held a meeting and appointed a new National Command that elected Assad as a general secretary and Ahmar his deputy. This National Command is competing with another one that was based in Iraq on being the sole legitimate National Command. Sheikh Sadiq bin Abdullah bin Hussein bin Nasser al-Ahmar ( ar, الشيخ صادق الأحمر; born 6 October 1956 ) is a Yemeni politician and the leader of the Hashid tribal federation. He succeeded his father Abdullah ibn Husayn al-Ahmar in these positions after Abdullah's death in 2007. He is best known for his role in the 2011 Yemeni uprising, in which fighters under his command attacked and seized government facilities in the Battle of Sana'a. Sheikh Abdullah bin Husayn bin Nasser al-Ahmar ( ar, عبد الله بن حسين الأحمر‎) (1 November 1933 – 29 December 2007) was a politician and tribe leader of Yemen. He was the Speaker of the House of Representatives (Yemen) from 1993 to 2007 and also was the Sheikh of the Hashid tribal federation and the Al-Islah party. Ahmar Mahboob is a Pakistani linguist. Currently he is an associate professor at the Department of Linguistics at the University of Sydney. He has worked in the fields of language policy development, pidgin and creole language, creole languages, NNEST studies, English language acquisition, English language teaching and teacher education, World Englishes, pragmatics, and minority languages in South Asia.
