Peggy Lenore Ahearn Blaylock, known professionally as Peggy Ahern, (March 9, 1917 – October 24, 2012) was an American actress best known for her appearance in eight of the ''Our Gang'' series of films released between 1924 and 1927. The ''Our Gang'' series, which was also known as ''The Little Rascals'' or ''Hal Roach's Rascals'', was a series of comedic, short silent films created by director and producer Hal Roach. Ahern was one of the last surviving cast members from a Hal Roach film. Early life Ahern was born in Douglas, Arizona. She moved to Culver City, California, with her family in 1921. Nuala Ahern (; born 5 February 1949 in Omeath, County Louth) is a former Irish Green Party member of the European Parliament representing Leinster in Ireland from 1994–2004. Ahern became active in politics in 1991 becoming elected to Wicklow County Council. She joined the Green Party in 1989. Her involvement in politics began through community action in Wicklow to prevent sewage pollution into the Irish Sea. She is a long-term anti-nuclear campaigner, promoting the use of renewable energy. She grew up in the Cooley peninsula of North County Louth which is close to the plutonium reprocessing plant in Sellafield on the West coast of the UK. Mary Eileen Ahern (October 1, 1860 – May 22, 1938) was an American librarian, a leader of the modern library movement, and an early organizer of libraries in the United States. Throughout her career as a state librarian, journal editor, public speaker, and organizer, Ahern crusaded for the value of public libraries in educating the public. Elizabeth Ahern (19 October 1877 - 7 April 1969), was a political activist, trade unionist and socialist from Australia. Ahern was born in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia on 19 October 1877. Her father, Edmund Ahern, was a gold miner, and her mother was Eliza, née Kiely; both were from Ireland. Ahern left school when she was 14 years old, and worked as a pupil-teacher and then moved to Melbourne, where she worked in domestic service as a cook. Ahern joined the Abbotsford branch of the Political Labor Council in 1904, and the Social Questions Committee, later renamed the Victorian Socialist Party, the following year. The Victorian Socialist Party was primarily interested in education and free speech and ran weekly meetings in the Bijou Theatre that often attracted crowds of more than 1,000 people. Liam Ahern (12 January 1916 – 13 July 1974), also known as William Ahern, was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who served in both Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann. Early and personal life Ahern's father, Eamon Ahern (1882–1953), was a member of Cork County Council from 1919 to 1953. He was a member of the IRA and the IRB. On Eamons' death, Liam was co-opted onto the council. Ahern's uncle, John Dinneen, was also a member of the Dáil between 1922 and 1927. Liam's uncle, Maurice Ahern (1899–1950), was captain of the East Cork 4th Battalion Number One Brigade of the IRA. Catherine Ita Ahern (; 13 January 1915 – 27 December 2007) was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Kerry North constituency from 1977 to 1981 and a Senator from 1964 to 1977.
