Ahat
Ahat, also known as AXAT ( bg, Ахат , "agate"), is a Bulgarian rock band from Sofia. History The band was created in 1986 in Sofia by students from the National Academy of Music and the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy. Their first live performance was on December 22, 1986. In 1989 the band went to North Korea with the Bulgarian delegation to the World Youth and Student Festival, which has brought them criticism as being too close to the Communist regime. The same year Ahat released their first album ' (, ''The March)''. It is regarded as their most successful album. The most popular songs from it are: "The Black Sheep", "Land Of Blindmen", "The Tree", "Fiery Souls", "The March". They also received their first music award and had a successful tour with Shturcite. Shturcite
Shturcite ( bg, Щурците ; English "The Crickets"), sometimes romanized as Shturtsite, was a Bulgarian rock group. They were one of the most successful bands in Bulgaria during the 1970s and 1980s and still have many fans. The band broke up once in 1990, reformed in 1997, and disbanded again in 2013. The group has been characterized as "Bulgaria's answer to The Beatles". History The group was created in 1967 in Sofia by Kiril Marichkov, Petar Tsankov (both from Bandaratsite group), Petar Gyuzelev, and Veselin Kisyov (both from Slanchevi Bratya group). Their first performance was at a students party in VITIZ (The Bulgarian School for Performing Arts), and in 1967 they made their first records. Sofia
Sofia ( ; bg, София, Sofiya, ) is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria. It is situated in the Sofia Valley at the foot of the Vitosha mountain in the western parts of the country. The city is built west of the Iskar river, and has many mineral springs, such as the Sofia Central Mineral Baths. It has a humid continental climate. Being in the centre of the Balkans, it is midway between the Black Sea and the Adriatic Sea, and closest to the Aegean Sea. Bulgarian Rock Archives (or Български рок архиви) is the first online encyclopedia dedicated to rock music in Bulgaria. Launched online on 2 August 2013 and includes more than 350 bands and performers from the mid-1960s. The articles are divided in alphabetical order, year of creation, style, location. Profiles of the groups include a short biography, discography, composition, links to videos, and links to official sites and profiles. Starting 4 June 2015, the site uses a new version, has made an example from the world heavy metal encyclopaedia - Encyclopaedia Metallum, with better features and design.
