Agnes Joy
''Agnes Joy'' is a 2019 Icelandic drama film directed by Silja Hauksdóttir. It was selected as the Icelandic entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 93rd Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. Plot Rannveig finds herself grappling with burnout in every facet of her ordinary suburban existence. Her job is a source of frustration, and her marriage is gradually deteriorating. Additionally, she engages in constant battles with her defiant daughter, Agnes, and is daunted by the prospect of Agnes maturing and moving on. The arrival of a new neighbor, Hreinn, at their doorstep ushers in fresh challenges that are completely unforeseen and uncontrollable for Rannveig and her family. 24th Busan International Film Festival
The 24th Busan International Film Festival was held from October 3 to October 12, 2019 at the Busan Cinema Center in Busan, South Korea. A total of 299 films from 85 countries were screened at the festival, including 118 world premieres and 27 international premieres. Silja Hauksdóttir
Silja Hauksdóttir (born ) is an Icelandic writer and film director. After studying philosophy at the University of Iceland, Silja took courses in screenwriting, directing and cinematography at FAMU in Prague and Binger Filmlab in Amsterdam. She wrote the book ''Dís'' with Birna Anna Björnsdóttir and , and later directed the full-length film ' in 2004, which was nominated for the Nordic Council Film Prize. Silja directed the award-winning TV series ', along with ' and ''Sisterhood''. ''Sisterhood'' was the first Icelandic programme to be included in the streaming service Walter Presents. Þorsteinn Bachmann
Þorsteinn Bachmann (born 25 October 1965) is an Icelandic actor. He is known for his role as Móri in ''Life in a Fishbowl''. In 2015 he won an Edda Award for that same role. Early life Þorsteinn grew up in the Fossvogur area of Reykjavík, Iceland before moving to Breiðholt when he was 10 years old. He did not do well in school in the early years. Looking back, he remembers that he was barely able to read or write before changing schools from Fossvogur to the one in Breiðholt. Career Þorsteinn graduated from the Icelandic Drama School in 1991. Since graduation he has worked with theatre groups in Reykjavík and Akureyri and was president of the latter for a few years.
