Dom Ambrose Agius
Ambrose Agius, O.S.B. (17 September 1856 – 13 December 1911) was a Maltese Archbishop of the Catholic Church. A member of the Benedictine Order, Agius was appointed the Apostolic Delegate to the Philippines by Pope Pius X in 1904. Agius was delegated to canonically crown the image of Our Lady of La Naval de Manila in 1907. He founded the first Benedictine monastery in Malta, and consecrated the first Filipino bishop in the Catholic Church. Early life Agius was born on 17 September 1856, in the Egyptian city of Alexandria (then under the Ottoman Empire), the second son (third child) of a Maltese merchant named Tancredi Agius and his wife Saveria Sammut. Andrei Agius (born 12 August 1986) is a Maltese footballer who plays as a central defender for Hibernians. Club career Early career Agius began his career with Santa Lucija, his hometown club, before joining the youth nursery of Sliema Wanderers, the most decorated club in Maltese football. In July 2003, Agius was part of the Sliema Wanderers under-16 squad that participated in the Nikola Kotkov Tournament, organised by the Academy Lokomotiv 101. Marcus Ambrose Paul Agius (; born 22 July 1946) is a British financier and former group chairman of Barclays. Early life and education Marcus Agius was born on 22 July 1946, the son of Ena Eleanora (née Hueffer) and Lieutenant Colonel Alfred Victor Louis Benedict Agius. Gilbert Agius
Gilbert Agius (born 21 February 1974) is a former professional Maltese footballer, currently head coach of Malta national under-21 football team. Playing career Agius was the captain of his hometown club side Valletta F.C. and is one of the most well known and highly respected figures in Maltese football history. He is hailed as a hero by the Valletta F.C. fans, due to his loyalty to his hometown club, where he played since 1990, bar a short spell during the first half of the 2001–02 season which he spent on loan to then-Serie C1 club Pisa. Frederick "Fred" Agius (born 2 February 1984) is an Australian footballer who plays for South Australian Amateur Soccer League team Brahma Lodge. In 2003, he played Australian rules football for Central District in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) reserve grade, making him one of few people to play at semi-professional level in both football and Australian rules. Emmanuel Agius (born 1954) is a Maltese minor philosopher mostly specialised and interested in ethics. Education Agius was born at Mqabba, Malta, in 1954. He studied at the University of Malta from where he acquired a Bachelor’s degree and a Licentiate in Theology (1979). Neil Agius
Neil Agius (born June 6, 1986) is a Maltese swimmer, former Olympian and world-record holder who specialises in long-distance freestyle events. He held three Maltese records each in the 400, 800, and 1500 m freestyle until one of them was broken by Edward Caruana Dingli in 2011. On June 30, 2021, Agius might have established the new world record for the longest continuous unassisted open water swim - swimming 125.7 km from Linosa to Xlendi - to the mediterranean archipelago of Gozo, Malta. This is still under review by the Marathon Swimmers Federation. Giovanni Pietro Francesco Agius De Soldanis
Canon Giovanni Pietro Francesco Agius de Soldanis ( mt, Ġan Piet Franġisk Agius de Soldanis, 30 October 1712 – 30 January 1770), often called de Soldanis ( mt, Sultana), was a Maltese linguist, historian and cleric from the island of Gozo. He wrote the first lexicon and systematic grammar of the Maltese language, and he was the first librarian of the ''Bibliotheca Publica'', the precursor of the National Library of Malta. Life De Soldanis was born on 1 November 1712 in Rabat, Gozo, to Andrea agius and Valenzia Sultana. He was baptised in the Parish Church of St. George the following day. Adam Agius
Adam Agius (born 21 September 1971) is the vocalist, guitarist, keyboardist and a founding member of the progressive metal band Alchemist. He formed Alchemist in 1987 while still in high school and is the group's only remaining original member. He also was the financial provider, director of show day and promoter for Metal for the Brain. His main band Alchemist went on an indefinite hiatus and as a result has started up a new successor project The Levitation Hex. Joseph James Agius (born 10 March 1992) is an Australian musician, singer and performer. He is the lead singer & guitarist of Brisbane-based rock band, The Creases, which he founded in 2013, and solo project RINSE, which he began officially releasing music through in 2020.
