Aghiles Slimani ( ar, اغليس سليماني; born August 20, 1982) is an Algerian former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. Slimani qualified for two swimming events at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, by posting FINA B-standard entry times of 55.40 (100 m butterfly) and 2:03.18 (200 m butterfly) from the World Championships in Barcelona, Spain. In the 200 m butterfly, Slimani challenged seven other swimmers in heat two, including Olympic veteran Vladan Marković of Serbia. He raced to sixth place and thirty-first overall by 0.16 of a second behind Markovic in 2:04.93. Onur Uras
Onur Uras (born January 1, 1985) is a Turkish Olympic swimmer who specialized in the butterfly stroke. He is a four-time Turkish national champion, and a member of Galatasaray Swimming Club ( tr, Galatasaray Spor Kulübü) in Istanbul, under his head coach Yilmaz Ozuak. Uras is also a former varsity swimmer for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and a graduate of industrial engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. Career Uras made his first Turkish team, as a 19-year-old, at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where he competed in the men's 100 m butterfly. He rounded out the third heat to last place and forty-ninth overall by 0.15 of a second behind Algeria's Aghiles Slimani in 56.37 seconds. Butterfly Swimming
The butterfly (colloquially shortened to fly) is a swimming stroke swum on the chest, with both arms moving symmetrically, accompanied by the butterfly kick (also known as the "dolphin kick"). While other styles like the breaststroke, front crawl, or backstroke can be swum adequately by beginners, the butterfly is a more difficult stroke that requires good technique as well as strong muscles. It is the newest swimming style swum in competition, first swum in 1933 and originating out of the breaststroke. Speed and ergonomics The peak speed of the butterfly is faster than that of the front crawl due to the synchronous pull/push with both arms and legs, which is done quickly. Yet since speed drops significantly during the recovery phase, it is overall slightly slower than front crawl, especially over longer distances. Vladan Marković
Vladan Marković ( Serbian Cyrillic: Владан Марковић; born 20 March 1977 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia with height 1.87 cm and weight 90 kg) is a Serbian swimmer also considered to be one of the country's all-time best. He is the current president of PK Zlatni Delfin, a swimming club from Belgrade and is a University of Belgrade alumni since 2001. Marković represented his country at three different Summer Olympics. He made his first appearance at the 1996 Summer Olympics which were held in the city of Atlanta, United States of America. Marković finished 28th overall at the men's 100 m butterfly with a time of 54.90. He also finished 28th overall at the men's 200 metre butterfly with a time of 2:01.80.
