Aghabullogue
Aghabullogue or Aghabulloge () is a village and parish in the barony of Muskerry East in northwest County Cork, Ireland. It lies around west of Cork City, south of the Boggeragh Mountains and north of the River Lee. The parish of Aghabullogue includes the villages of Aghabullogue, Coachford and Rylane in County Cork. The civil parish consists of 31 townlands. It has a public house and shop, a national school, community hall and a Roman Catholic church. Saint Olan (or Olann) is the patron saint of the parish. Aghabullogue GAA
Aghabullogue GAA are a Gaelic Athletic Association club in County Cork, Ireland. They are affiliated to the Cork County Board and play in the mid-Cork (Muskerry) division of Cork GAA. Aghabullogue cater for both hurling and Gaelic football. History Aghabullogue have a long tradition of hurling. In 1890, they won the Cork Senior Hurling Championship. By the rules of the GAA at that time, this victory allowed Aghabullogue to go on and represent Cork in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. They later collected a Munster title following a victory over Kerry. There was controversy in the subsequent All-Ireland final when an Aghabullogue men left the field after one of the players had his toe broken by a Wexford man's hurley. At a meeting the following week of the Gaelic Athletic Association's Central Council it was agreed to award Cork the All-Ireland title. Dan Drew
Daniel Drew (1863 – 8 July 1923) was an Irish hurler. His championship career with the Cork senior team lasted from 1890 until 1892. Born in Aghabullogue, County Cork in 1863, Drew was the second child and only son born to Con and Nora Drew. He was educated at the local national school and later worked as a railway guard with the Cork and Muskerry Light Railway. Drew first played competitive hurling with the Aghabullogue club and won his sole county senior championship medal in 1890. This success allowed the club to represent Cork in the inter-county championship and Drew was a key member of the forwards. He won his first All-Ireland medal in 1890. Drew returned to the Cork team in 1892 and, along with his team-mate Pat Buckley, became the first players to win two All-Ireland medals on the field of play. He also won two Munster medals. Coachford () is a village in County Cork, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It is located on the north side of the River Lee (Ireland), River Lee. Rylane Cross () is a village in County Cork, Ireland. The town is situated roughly midway between Millstreet and Cork city, north of Macroom in the parish of Aghabullogue. Muskerry East ( ga, Múscraí Thoir ) is one of the baronies of Ireland, an historical geographical unit of land. Its chief town is Ballincollig. It is one of 24 baronies in the county of Cork.
