Aggravation (law)
Aggravation, in law, is "any circumstance attending the commission of a crime or tort which increases its guilt or enormity or adds to its injurious consequences, but which is above and beyond the essential constituents of the crime or tort itself." Aggravated assault, for example, is usually differentiated from simple assault by the offender's intent (e.g., to murder or to rape), the extent of injury to the victim, or the use of a deadly weapon. An aggravating circumstance is a kind of attendant circumstance and the opposite of an extenuating or mitigating circumstance, which decreases guilt. In the UK, the Criminal Justice Act 2003 requires a court to consider (a) relevant previous convictions, (b) racial or religious aggravation, and (c) hostility towards the victim or to persons generally based on sexual orientation (or presumed sexual orientation) or disability (or presumed disability) when determining sentence for a conviction. ''Aggravation'' is the second studio album by French industrial metal band Treponem Pal. It was released in 1991 on Roadracer Records. The record features contributions from producer Roli Mosimann and session work from the Celtic Frost drummer Stephen Priestly. The album also features a cover of Kraftwerk's 1976 track, " Radioactivity." Background and music Following the release of 1989's ''Treponem Pal'' and accompanying touring, the band's bassist Stephane Cressend replaced Alain Ferguson in April 1990 and the band started recording ''Aggravation'' in Artag Studio in Zurich. Drummer David LeBrun left the band during the sessions; as a result, Celtic Frost drummer Stephen Priestly filled in for the recording sessions. The album was co-produced by Voco Fauxpas and mixed by former Swans member Roli Mosimann, the latter known for his work with The Young Gods, The The and Celtic Frost. Treponem Pal
Treponem Pal is a French industrial metal band formed in Paris in 1986. The current line-up of the band consists of Marco Neves (vocals), Polak (guitar), Didier Bréard (sampler), Mathys Dubois (drums) and Syn-Anton (bass). The band went through multiple line-up changes with Neves being the only constant member. The band is named after ''treponema pallidum'', the bacterium that causes syphilis. The band's music was described as a mixture of "aggressive metal and a hint of industrial" similar to Godflesh and The Young Gods. History Treponem Pal formed in France in 1986. Their first (''Treponem Pal'') and third ('' Excess & Overdrive'') albums were produced by Franz Treichler (The Young Gods). Chris Curtis (musician)
Chris Curtis (born Christopher Crummey; 26 August 1941 – 28 February 2005) was an English musician. He was best known for being with the 1960s beat band The Searchers. He originated the concept behind Deep Purple and formed the band in its original incarnation of 'Roundabout'. Early years Born in Oldham, Lancashire on 26 August 1942, Curtis came to Liverpool when he was four and went to primary school where he met Mike Prendergast. He taught himself how to play the piano on the family instrument at 30 Florida Street in Bootle. He passed the 11-plus and went to St Mary's College, Crosby, where he was taught violin although he wanted to play the double bass. His father bought him a drum set during his late teens when he left school and he learned these in his spare time, when he was not selling prams at Swift's Furniture store at Stanley Road, Liverpool. Martha Veléz (born in New York City on August 25, 1945) is an American singer and actress of Puerto Rican descent. Biography Veléz started singing at age five and won an opera scholarship at age 12, as a mezzo-soprano. She studied for three years, then went to the High School of Performing Arts in New York City. Veléz holds a master's degree from Antioch University in Clinical Psychology and a Ph.D. from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Cultural Mythology and Depth Psychology. She is a founding Fellow of the Imaginal Institute of Ojai, California. As a playwright, she wrote the award-winning play ''Power of the Powerless''. Veléz is interested in using her voice as a means for social change. Veléz began her recording career with the folk singing group The Gaslight Singers on Mercury Records. Briton Rivière (14 August 1840 in London20 April 1920 in London) was a British artist of Huguenot descent. He exhibited a variety of paintings at the Royal Academy, but devoted much of his life to animal paintings. Biography Briton's father, William Rivière (1806–1876), was for some years drawing-master at Cheltenham College, and then an art teacher at the University of Oxford. Briton was educated at Cheltenham College and Oxford, where he took his degree in 1867. For his art training he was indebted almost entirely to his father.
