Agenville () is a commune in the Somme department in Hauts-de-France in northern France. Geography The commune is a village of mixed farming situated northeast of Abbeville on the D56 road. It is surrounded by the communes Domléger-Longvillers, Conteville and Prouville. History Destroyed by the English at the time of the battle of Crecy in 1346 and rebuilt on a new site. Rebuilt after the bombardments of 1944, when 95% of the village was destroyed, as the V1 rocket site was nearby. Agenville was once a centre of a pilgrimage. The V-1 flying bomb (german: Vergeltungswaffe 1 "Vengeance Weapon 1") was an early cruise missile. Its official Reich Aviation Ministry () designation was Fi 103. It was also known to the Allies as the buzz bomb or doodlebug and in Germany as ( cherry stone) or (maybug). The V-1 was the first of the (V-weapons) deployed for the terror bombing of London.
