Agathotoma Alcippe
''Agathotoma alcippe'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family (biology), family Mangeliidae. Description The length of the shell varies between 5 mm and 11 mm. (Original description) The minute shell, which is either whitish or pale brownish, is subcylindrical and turreted in shape. The protoconch features a projecting, minute subglobular Apex (mollusc), apex and comprises about 1½ smooth Whorl (mollusc), whorls. This is followed in the teleoconch by approximately 4½ sculptured whorls. The spiral Sculpture (mollusc), sculpture consists of minute, close-set threads that uniformly cover the entire surface. The suture is distinct and appressed, with the whorls being shouldered immediately in front of it. The axial sculpture is characterized by prominent, slightly protractively oblique ribs (seven or eight on the body whorl), with wider interspaces. These ribs extend over the entire whorl and are prominent at the shoulder, but they are not ...

Agathotoma Castellata
''Agathotoma castellata'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Mangeliidae. Description The length of the shell attains mm, its diameter mm. (Original description) The white, oblong, turreted shell has 6 to 7 whorls, including two in the protoconch. This shell is elegantly formed, with whorls that are narrower at the base than above, giving it a turreted appearance. The prominent plicate ribs are particularly notable, with the penultimate rib on the body whorl significantly distant from the rib that forms the outer lip. The ribs are slightly extended at the upper end, giving the whorls a castellated appearance, and they are continuous up the spire in all four examples examined. The aperture is narrow, and the siphonal canal is short and truncate. Distribution This species occurs in the Caribbean Sea off Guadeloupe, Aruba; Curaçao Curaçao ( ; ; pap, Kòrsou, ), officially the Country of Curaçao ( nl, Land Curaçao; pap, Pais Kò ...

Agathotoma Candidissima
''Agathotoma candidissima'', common name Cox's mangelia, is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Mangeliidae. Description The length of the shell varies between 4 mm and 11 mm. The white, oblong, turreted shell features 7 to 8 whorls, with the protoconch missing in the specimen described. The axial sculpture comprises 7 to 8 ribs, with a distinctive characteristic where some ribs on the body whorl turn abruptly at right angles towards the base of the columella. This feature is especially noticeable on the penultimate and the three or four preceding ribs. Near the top, just below the suture, the ribs are faintly angled. Additionally, faint dots appear on the base in the upper whorls and on the middle and lower parts of the body whorl, which may be easily overlooked. A few faint dots are also present between the ribs, just below the suture. The aperture is elongate-ovate, accounting for approximately 3/7 of the shell's total length. The ou ...

Agathotoma Camarina
''Agathotoma camarina'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Mangeliidae. Description The length of the shell attains 6 mm, its diameter 2.5 mm. (Original description) The small, white shell has a hexagonal shape. The blunt, glassy protoconch consists of approximately whorls. The teleoconch includes about five additional whorls. Under a hand lens, the surface appears smooth, lacking visible spiral sculpture. The axial sculpture features six strong, rounded ribs that run the entire length of the shell and are continuous over the spire. The suture is distinct. The aperture is narrow with a relatively large, rounded anal sulcus. The outer lip is thickened and lacks internal liration. The inner lip is simple and not callous. The columella is short, and the siphonal canal The siphonal canal is an anatomical feature of the shells of certain groups of sea snails within the clade Neogastropoda. ''Agathotoma neglecta'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Mangeliidae. Description The length of the shell varies between 5 mm and 7.5 mm. The ribs are rounded, approximated, transversely elevately striated. The color of the shell is rusty brown. (Original description) The shell is subfusiform and pale brownish-red, with each whorl featuring eight or nine prominent curved ribs. An elevated spiral line runs along the middle of the whorls, becoming obsolete on the body whorl. Anteriorly, the shell has several spiral striae. The apex is acute, and the spire has moderately convex outlines. The shell comprises seven rather convex whorls with a distinct suture. The aperture is rather narrow and mostly parallel with the axis of the spire. The outer lip is significantly thickened both inside and out, with a narrow sinus. Agathotoma Merlini
''Agathotoma merlini'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Mangeliidae. First described in 1910, its species name refers to Martial Henri Merlin, governor-general of French Congo. Description The size of the shell varies between 5 mm and 8.5 mm; its diameter 3 mm. The solid shell is very elongated with a fusiform-subcylindrical shape. The spireconsists of 8 whorls. The initial whorls are smooth and convex, while the remaining whorls are slightly convex. The suture is appressed. The shell's sculpture includes longitudinal ribs, which are narrower than their intervals, numbering 10 on the body whorl, with extremely fine striae visible only under magnification. The aperture is narrow, constituting less than half the shell's total length. The columella is slightly excavated at the top and subtly twisted at the base. The outer lip is smooth on the inner side, featuring a sinus at the top and is inflected below the sinus. The shell i ...
