Afterwords (The Gathering Album)
''Afterwords '' is an album by the Dutch rock band The Gathering, released via Psychonaut Records on 25 October 2013. It is referred to as either a studio album or a remix album, containing remakes of five songs from ''Disclosure'', but the band consider ''Afterwords'' more like an EP. Drummer Hans Rutten has stated, "We all see ''Disclosure'' as our last studio album, and ''Afterwords'' was more or less a ''Disclosure'' after-party... It's a mini album, maybe, but it's a long album. But that said, we don't see it as a full-length album of The Gathering, more as sort of an EP kind of thing." The record is the last album before the band went on hiatus and bassist Marjolein Kooijman quit in 2014. Song information S.I.B.A.L.D. stands for "Sometimes it's better a little dusty". Remix Album
A remix album is an album consisting of remixes or rerecorded versions of an artist's earlier released material. The first act who employed the format was American singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson (''Aerial Pandemonium Ballet'', 1971). As of 2007, the best-selling remix album of all time is Michael Jackson's ''Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix'' (1997). Synthpop
Synth-pop (short for synthesizer pop; also called techno-pop; ) is a subgenre of new wave music that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. Tony Mansfield
Tony Mansfield (born 19 January 1955) is an English songwriter, musician and record producer. Early work Mansfield was born in Wimbledon, London, and became best known as the main songwriter/producer for New Musik, a synthpop band that performed from 1979 to 1982. Following their debut hit single "Straight Lines" in 1979, the band had three further UK Top 40 hits in 1980 ("This World of Water", "Sanctuary" and "Living By Numbers"), and released three albums: '' From A To B'' (1980), '' Anywhere'' (1981) and ''Warp'' (1982). The group also released a compilation album for the United States in 1981 known as ''Sanctuary'' which consisted of tracks from the first two albums. After the demise of GTO Records, New Musik disbanded. Silje Wergeland
Silje Wergeland (born 9 November 1974) is a Norwegian singer, songwriter and pianist. She is best known as the current lead vocalist of the Dutch progressive/alternative rock band The Gathering (since 2009). She was also the frontwoman of Norwegian doom/gothic metal band Octavia Sperati. Musical career Silje Wergeland was a founding member of the female group of gothic / doom metal Octavia Sperati in 2000, where she remained as vocalist and one of the main songwriters along with Gyri Losnegaard and Bodil Myklebust, until 2008. Death-doom
Death-doom is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal. It combines the slow tempos and pessimistic or depressive mood of doom metal with the deep growling vocals and double kick drumming of death metal. Bart Smits
Bart Smits (born 17 March 1972 in Oss) is a Dutch heavy metal singer. He was the original singer in The Gathering, and he sang on their first album '' Always...'', released in 1992. The following year he left them to form Wish. After one full-length album and four EPs, the band split up in 2003. Smits' latest work is Wish's '' Ground Zero Heaven'', released in 2000. Anywhere (New Musik Album)
''Anywhere'' is the second album from New Musik released on 6 March 1981. The cassette edition of the album contained two extra songs not present on the vinyl copies. A digitally remastered version called ''Anywhere... Plus'' was released in 2001. Two singles were released in the United Kingdom, "Luxury" on 30 January 1981 and "While You Wait" on 3 April 1981. New Musik
New Musik were an English synthpop group active from 1977 to 1982. Led by Tony Mansfield, they achieved success in 1980 with the top 20 single " Living by Numbers" which was followed up with the top 40 hits "This World of Water", "Sanctuary" and hit album '' From A to B''. History New Musik formed in 1977 in London, growing out of a casual band of South London school friends who jammed together under the name End of the World. The lead vocalist and frontman for the band was songwriter and record producer Tony Mansfield, who was also a former member of the Nick Straker Band, and was joined in the original line-up by Straker, bassist Tony Hibbert and drummer Phil Towner. The Gathering is a Dutch rock band, founded in 1989 by brothers Hans and René Rutten and vocalist Bart Smits in Oss, North Brabant. The Gathering earliest releases were categorized as atmospheric doom metal with influences from extreme metal acts like Celtic Frost and Hellhammer.
