Afternoon
Afternoon is the time after solar noon. It is the time when the sun is descending from its peak in the sky to somewhat before its terminus at the horizon in the west. In human life, it occupies roughly the latter half of the standard work and school day. In literal terms, it refers to a time specifically after noon. The equivalent of Earth's afternoon on another planet would refer to the time the principal star of that planetary system would be in descent from its prime meridian, as seen from the planet's surface. Terminology Afternoon is often defined as the period between noon and evening. If this definition is adopted, the specific range of time varies in one direction: noon is defined as the time when the sun reaching its highest point in the sky, but the boundary between afternoon and evening has no standard definition. Afternoon (magazine)
is a Japanese monthly ''seinen'' manga anthology published by Kodansha under the ''Afternoon'' line of magazines. The first issue was released with a cover date of January 25, 1986. ''Afternoon'' has spawned many successful manga series such as ''Oh My Goddess!'', ''Genshiken'', ''Blade of the Immortal'' and ''Big Windup!''. It is part of Kodansha's "1day" series, which also includes the magazines ''Morning'' and ''Evening''. A spin-off magazine, named ''good! Afternoon'', started publishing on November 7, 2008. History The magazine was founded as a sister magazine to ''Morning'' by the same publisher. According to Frederik L. Schodt, stories that did not convince the editors of ''Morning'' would often land in ''Afternoon''. Many of the artists working for the magazine used to publish amateur dojinshi and were influenced by lolicon amateur manga. ''The Afternoon Despatch & Courier'' was an evening tabloid in Mumbai, India. The newspaper was launched by Behram Contractor, better known as "Busybee", on 25 March 1985. This newspaper served as a launch pad for several well-known journalists in India. The Afternoon Despatch & Courier concentrates on news and features from Mumbai and the adjoining cities. Anant Rao Kanangi was the Associate Editor of this newspaper. Kamal Morarka - former union minister and businessman and National president of the Samajwadi Janata Party Chandrashekhar, was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of this newspaper. For the remainder of the play, Claire and her friend Laura mock L'Estranger with biting wit, and he in turn eventually concedes that he had not valued his wife as he should have. Tsai Ming-liang (; born 27 October 1957) is a Malaysian-Taiwanese filmmaker. Tsai has written and directed 11 feature films, many short films, and television films. He is one of the most celebrated "Second New Wave" film directors of Taiwanese cinema. His films have been acclaimed worldwide and have won numerous awards at festivals. In 1994, Tsai won the ''Golden Lion'' at the 51st Venice International Film Festival for the film ''Vive L'Amour''. ''afternoon, a story'', spelled with a lowercase 'a', is a work of electronic literature written in 1987 by American author Michael Joyce. It was published by Eastgate Systems in 1990 and is known as one of the first works of hypertext fiction. ''afternoon'' was first offered to the public as a demonstration of the hypertext authoring system Storyspace, announced in 1987 at the first Association for Computing Machinery Hypertext conference in a paper by Michael Joyce and Jay David Bolter. In 1990, it was published on diskette and distributed in the same form by Eastgate Systems.
