After The Future
''After the Future'' is a documentary film by André Krummel. It premiered on 31 October 2017 as part of the 60th DOK Leipzig in Germany. Content The documentary explores the private and professional life of HIV-positive human rights activist Ortwin Passon. More than twenty years has passed since the AIDS related death of his boyfriend. Passon himself, however, is still alive - against his own expectations. The film investigates several philosophical and legal themes while following Passon in his normal life volunteering at Germany’s Federal Agency for Technical Relief as well as attending bareback sex parties. The connection between his private and his professional life becomes obvious, when Ortwin meets his doctoral adviser to work on a Doctoral Thesis about barebacking as a basic human right - the right of HIV positive men to have unprotected anal sex. Ortwin Passon
Ortwin Passon (born in 1962 in Frankfurt-Höchst, West Germany) is a German gay, HIV/AIDS and human rights activist. Life and work Passon was born in a working-class family and was the only son, out of three, to obtain qualifications that allowed him to apply for university. He came out as gay, having attended the gay and lesbian youth group, Pink Power, in Frankfurt on Main. Passon went on to study political science at the Free University of Berlin. In 1989, he further studied postgraduate law at the Goethe University Frankfurt. Passon worked in a German bank. He travelled several times to former German colonies in the West Pacific, to complete essays for the respected historian Karl-Heinz Grundmann. Several of Passons papers regarding sexual science and cultures have been published in specialist magazines and in national press, and are considered to be influential. Rüdiger Lautmann
Rüdiger Lautmann (born 22 December 1935) is a German professor of sociology and one of the most prominent LGBT scholars in Germany. Biography Born in Koblenz, Lautmann lived during his childhood in Düsseldorf, where he went to school. He first studied German law. After he finished his law studies, he started a second study in sociology. Lautmann worked after university studies first in Münster and then in Bielefeld (for Niklas Luhmann). In 1971 he became then professor in sociology at University of Bremen. In 2001 Lautmann retired as professor. In 2005 Lautmann married his boyfriend in Hamburg. There he leads the ''Institut für Sicherheits- und Präventionsforschung''. In 2009 he moved to Berlin. Controversy His 1994 book, ''Die Lust am Kind'', is often touted by pro-pedophile activists; he has since distanced himself from this book in response to public criticism in Germany. Human immunodeficiency virus infection and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) is a spectrum of conditions caused by infection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), a retrovirus. DOK Leipzig is a documentary film festival that takes place every year in Leipzig, Germany. It is an international film festival for documentary and animated film founded in 1955 under the name "1st All-German Leipzig Festival of Cultural and Documentary Films" and was the first independent film festival in East Germany. In 1995 a separate competition for animated films was added and in 2004 a film industry program, DOK Industry, was initiated to allow a networking and contact platform for industry professionals. Shortly after German reunification attendance figures dropped, with just 5,500 people coming in 1993; however, they quickly picked up and in 2008 the festival had more than 27,000 attendees.
