Tantric is an American rock band from Louisville, Kentucky. The group was founded in 1998 by Todd Whitener, Jesse Vest and Matt Taul after they left Days of the New, and joined forces with vocalist Hugo Ferreira. Ferreira is the only remaining member of the band from the original lineup. The band's most recent release, their 8th full-length album " The Sum Of All Things", was released July 23, 2021, via Cleopatra Records. History Formation After leaving Days of the New in November 1998 guitarist Todd Whitener, bassist Jesse Vest, and drummer Matt Taul reached out to Massachusetts native Hugo Ferreira (formerly of the band Merge) in early 1999 to see if he would be interested in starting a new project together. "The Chain" is a song by British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, released on their 1977 album '' Rumours''. It is the only song from the album with writing credits for all five members (Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Christine McVie, John McVie, and Mick Fleetwood). ''After We Go'' is the second studio album by American rock band Tantric. Released on February 24, 2004, it debuted at number 56 on the Billboard Album Charts but quickly lost momentum due to the lack of a strong single. Despite the lack of radio play, the album was considered a commercial success by singer Hugo Ferreira because it fared extremely well through downloaded sales. ''After We Go'' would be Tantric's final album for Maverick. Background and recording After wrapping up a headlining tour on April 7, 2002, the band went to Ocean Way studios in Nashville, Tennessee to record their second album with producer Toby Wright. The band expected to release the new work, originally to be titled ''Zero Point Mantra'', by year's end. Todd Whitener
Todd Whitener is an American musician best known from his time with the bands Days of the New and Tantric. He is currently on his own solo project, entitled ''Whitener''. He has released three albums and one extended play since 2012. Early life Whitener began playing guitar in 1992, when he bought a 'Dixon' guitar for 70 dollars. From the year 1992 until 1995, he played in various local bands. In 1995, he joined a band formed by members Jesse Vest, Travis Meeks and Mat Taul. The band's name at the time was called ''Dead Reckoning''. Upon Whitener joining the band, the band name was changed to Days of the New. Days of the New By the year 1996, the band had signed a recording contract and released their self-titled album the following year. The album went platinum and they got to open for Metallica.
