Afsaruddin Ahmad
Afsaruddin Ahmad Khan (1940 – 17 November 2021) was a Bangladesh Awami League politician. He served as a Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Gazipur-4 constituency during 1996–2001 and the state minister for housing and public works during 1996–1997. He was the younger brother of Tajuddin Ahmad, the inaugural Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Early life and family Khan was born to Maulavi Muhammad Yasin Khan and Meherunnesa Khanam. He had two brothers and six sisters. Career Khan was elected to parliament in 1996 from Gazipur-4. He served as the State Minister for public works in the First Sheikh Hasina Cabinet from 1996 to 1997. In 2012, by-elections were called in Gazipur-4, after Sohel Taj resigned. He contested the 2012 by polls in Gazipur-4 as an independent candidate. He lost the election to Simin Hossain Rimi, the Bangladesh Awami League candidate. Simin Hossain Rimi
Simeen Hussain Rimi (born 19 August 1961) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and the incumbent Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Gazipur-4 constituency. She was elected in the 10th Parliamentary Elections held on 5 January 2014 and in the 11th Parliamentary Elections on 31 December 2018. She is chairperson of the parliamentary standing committee of the Ministry of Culture. In November 2022, she became a member of Awami League Presidium. The Jatiya Sangsad ( bn, জাতীয় সংসদ, lit=National Parliament, translit=Jatiyô Sôngsôd), often referred to simply as the ''Sangsad'' or JS and also known as the House of the Nation, is the supreme legislative body of Bangladesh. The current parliament of Bangladesh contains 350 seats, including 50 seats reserved exclusively for women. Elected occupants are called Member of Parliament, or MP. The 11th National Parliamentary Election was held on 30 December 2018. Elections to the body are held every five years, unless a parliament is dissolved earlier by the President of Bangladesh. Tajuddin Ahmad
Tajuddin Ahmad ( bn, তাজউদ্দীন আহমদ; ; 23 July 1925 – 3 November 1975) was a Bangladeshi politician and statesman. He led the Provisional Government of Bangladesh as its prime minister during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971 and is regarded as one of the most instrumental figures in the birth of Bangladesh. Tajuddin began as a Muslim League youth worker in British India. He belonged to the Dhaka-based pro-democracy, secular Muslim League faction, which broke with the Muslim League's reactionary party line after the partition of India and the birth of Pakistan. As a member of the short-lived youth organisation the Jubo League, he actively participated in the Language Movement in 1952.
