African Leadership University
African Leadership University oALUis a network of tertiary institutions with operations in both Mauritius and Rwanda with a bachelor's degree. ALU's first campus was launched in September 2015 in Mauritius and is known as the African Leadership College. Its second campus was launched in September 2017 in Kigali, Rwanda. History In 2008, Fred Swaniker, an African leadership development expert and Stanford Business School educated social entrepreneur, founded ALU's sister organization, the African Leadership Academy, a secondary institution. In 2015, Swaniker then expanded his efforts further by establishing an institution of higher learning, the African Leadership University, dedicated to teaching leadership skills. In 2015 ALU opened its doors to more than 180 students from across Africa on its main campus in Mauritius. In 2019, ALU made it to Fast Company's list of The World's 50 Most Innovative companies. Glasgow Caledonian University
Glasgow Caledonian University ( gd, Oilthigh Chailleannach Ghlaschu, ), informally GCU, Caledonian or Caley, is a public university in Glasgow, Scotland. Pamplemousses () is a district of Mauritius, located in the north west of the island, and is one of the most densely populated parts of the island. The name of the district comes from the French word for grapefruits. The district has an area of 178.7 km2 and the population estimate was at 139,966 as of 31 December 2015. Places of interest The district hosts the SSR botanical garden, or Jardin Botanique Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, renamed in 1988 in honor of the first prime minister of Mauritius. The garden was first constructed by Pierre Poivre (1719–1786) in 1770. The area is 25 hectares. The garden features spices, ebonies, sugar canes and many more. Fred Swaniker (born 1976) is a Ghanaian serial entrepreneur and leadership development expert on a mission to help the world's most extraordinary talent fulfil its potential. The African Leadership Academy (ALA) is an educational institution located in the outskirts of Johannesburg, South Africa, for students between the ages of 16 to 19 years old, with current alumni coming from 46 countries. Founded in 2004 by Fred Swaniker, Chris Bradford, Peter Mombaur, and Acha Leke, ALA officially opened in September 2008 with an inaugural class of 97 students.
