Finnish Afghans are people from Afghanistan living in Finland. As of 2021, there are a total of 12,044 people of Afghan background residing in Finland. Migration In late 2015, about half of all the asylum seekers in Finland were Afghans, of which most have arrived through Sweden to Tornio. A large portion of Afghans in Finland are ethnic Hazaras. In 2018, Migri temporarily froze all Afghani applications. Deportations of Afghani asylum seekers has drawn criticism in Finland and other European countries. In 2018, 62% of Afghans asylum seekers received an asylum in Finland. On 9 July 2021, Finland halted deportations to Afghanistan after the US withdrawal from Afghanistan. Afghan Diaspora
Afghan diaspora refers to the Afghan people that reside and work outside of Afghanistan. They include citizens of Afghanistan who have immigrated to other countries. The majority of the diaspora has been formed by Afghan refugees since the start of the Soviet–Afghan War in 1979; the largest numbers temporarily reside in Iran and Pakistan. As stateless refugees or asylum seekers, they are protected by the well-established non-refoulement principle and the U.N. Convention Against Torture. The ones having at least one American parent are further protected by United States laws. Nasima Razmyar
Nasima Razmyar (born 13 September 1984 in Kabul, Afghanistan) is an Afghan-born Finnish politician, representing the Social Democratic Party. Razmyar was elected to the Finnish Parliament in 2015, gaining 5,156 votes in the elections. She served in the Parliament until June 2017, when she was chosen as the Deputy Mayor for culture and leisure in Helsinki. She has also been a member of the City Council of Helsinki since 2012. Moshtagh Hossain Yaghoubi (; in Dari: مشتاق حسین یعقوبی) aka Mosa (born 8 November 1994) is an Afghan-born Finnish footballer who plays for SJK. Early life Moshtagh Yaghoubi was born on 8 November 1994 to an ethnic Hazara family in Kabul, Afghanistan. Mosawer Ahadi (born 8 March 2000) is an Afghan-born Finnish professional footballer who plays for HIFK, as a winger. Club career Palloherko Keski-Uusimaa Ahadi's first senior club was PKKU in the Kakkonen. He made his senior league debut for the club on 29 April 2017 in a 3-2 away victory over PEPO. He was subbed off after 68 minutes, to be replaced by Phondo Wälläri. He scored his first league goal for the club on 13 June 2017 in a 1-1 home draw with Klubi 04. Fareed Sadat (Dari:فرید سادات; born 10 November 1998) is an Afghan professional footballer who plays as a forward for Thai League 2 club Nakhon Si United and the Afghanistan national team. This is a list of diplomatic missions of Finland. Finland's foreign affairs ministry was established shortly after its independence in 1917. To encourage its international recognition and promote its frontier, trade and maritime interests, Finland had commissioned twelve missions abroad by the end of 1918. By the time of the Second World War broke out there were 20 Finnish embassies (of which four were outside Europe) and six consulates.
