It is located from Ust-Nera, the administrative center of the district and from Tomtor. ALSIB
ALSIB (or the Northern Trace) was the Soviet Union portion of the Alaska-Siberian air road receiving Lend-Lease aircraft from the Northwest Staging Route. Aircraft manufactured in the United States were flown over this route for World War II combat service on the Eastern Front.Lebedev pp.44-49 Routing United States ferry pilots delivered aircraft to Ladd Army Airfield in Fairbanks, Alaska. There each aircraft was serviced by USAAF personnel in preparation for Soviet inspection. After Soviet inspectors accepted the aircraft, five regiments of ferry pilots conveyed aircraft from Fairbanks to Soviet pilot training facilities near Krasnoyarsk. Oymyakon
Oymyakon, ; sah, Өймөкөөн, ''Öymököön'', is a rural locality (a '' selo'') in Oymyakonsky District of the Sakha Republic, Russia, located in the Yana-Oymyakon Highlands, along the Indigirka River, northwest of Tomtor on the Kolyma Highway. Etymology It is named after the Oymyakon River, whose name reportedly comes from the Even word ''kheium'', meaning "unfrozen patch of water; place where fish spend the winter". Ust-Nera ( rus, Усть-Нера, r=; sah, Уус Ньара, translit=Uus Nyara) is an urban locality (an urban-type settlement) and the administrative center of Oymyakonsky District in Yakutia, Russia. Located in one of the coldest permanently inhabited regions on Earth, Ust-Nera is approximately northeast of the republic's capital, Yakutsk. As of the 2010 Census, its population was 6,463.
