Aernout Philip Theodoor Eyssell
Aernout Philip Theodoor Eyssell (July 19, 1837 – March 23, 1921) was a Dutch lawyer, judge and president of the Dutch Supreme Court. Biography Eyssell was born on July 19, 1837, in The Hague. His father was the lawyer Martinus Eyssell (1807–1888) and his mother Henriëtte Elsabine Vreede (1813–1876). In 1855 he started studying law at Utrecht University. In 1859 he obtained a doctoral degree. In the same year he participated in a competition of the Académie des Sciences in Dijon. He wrote an essay about the French lawyer Hugues Doneau and won the competition. His manuscript – written in Latin – was translated into French and was published in 1860 under the title ''Doneau, sa vie et ses ouvrages. L'école de Bourges; synthèse du Droit romain au XVIe siècle; son influence jusqu'à nos jours''. He became a lawyer in his hometown and in 1878 he became a deputy judge at the district court. Aernout Mik (born 3 July 1962) is a Dutch artist, internationally known for his installations and films. Biography Mik spent his childhood in Groningen and studied there from 1983 to 1988 at the Academie Minerva. He also had lessons from . He had his first solo exhibition in 2000 at the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven under the title "Primal gestures, minor roles". Aernout van Buchel (Latinised: Arnoldus Buchelius) (Utrecht, 1565 – Utrecht, 15 July 1641) was a Dutch antiquarian and humanist, specialising in genealogy and heraldry. Life Buchel was the illegitimate child of a Canon of the St. Peter's Church in Utrecht. He studied in Leiden for several months, but in 1585 he continued his studies in France, where he made contacts with other learned men who were interested by Roman ruins, inscriptions and writings. He travelled to Rome, where he wrote an extensive account of the monuments and art that he saw in the city and elsewhere in Italy. These were included in Buchel’s ''Iter Italicum'', which forms a part of his ''Commentarius rerum quotidianarum'' (Diary of daily things), which covers the years 1560 through 1599. Especially interesting within the ''Iter Italicum'' is the selection of drawings that Buchel made, many of which are based on earlier prints. Carel Diederic Aernout baron van Lynden (born 31 December 1954) is a Dutch-British journalist with over twenty years experience as a war correspondent in the Middle East, Northern Ireland and the Balkans. Career Lynden began his journalism career in 1979 at the '' Haagsche Courant''. In September 1980 he was one of the few Western journalists in Iraq when Saddam Hussein's attack on Iran opened. After this he worked as a freelance for BBC Radio, '' The Observer'' and '' The Washington Post''. He then invested much time and energy in the anti- Soviet Resistance in Afghanistan. Aernout van Overbeke (15 December 1632 – 19 July 1674) was a Dutch writer and humorist. His works include burlesque letters detailing his travels and a collection of jokes. His ''Rym-wercken'' was very popular and was reprinted nine times after his death. Life He was born in Leiden, where his Antwerp-born parents had settled after marrying in Frankfurt and spending a period in Amsterdam. His family was quite wealthy, with a townhouse on the Rapenburg and a country residence in Alphen aan den Rijn and receiving illustrious guests such as Vossius and Barlaeus. However, Aernout's father later got into financial difficulties, which seem to have affected his health - he died in 1638. Van Overbeke entered Leiden University aged eleven and completed his legal studies there on 10 March 1655 with a disputation or thesis entitled ''De transactionibus''.
