''Dinner for Adele'' () is a 1977 Czech parody comedy film directed by Oldřich Lipský. Alternative titles were ''Adele Hasn't Had Her Dinner Yet'', ''Nick Carter in Prague'' and ''Adela Has Not Had Supper Yet''. The film is set at the fin de siècle. American detective Nick Carter is invited to Prague, in order to search for a missing dog. But Carter stumbles on a series of murders, as an evil baron keeps feeding victims to his carnivorous plant. Plot It is the turn from the nineteenth to the twentieth century. Countess Thun asked the famous New York detective Nick Carter to travel to Prague, for assistance to solve the strange case of a missing dog. Carter is assisted by Prague police commissar Ledvina. Jiří Brdečka (24 December 1917 – 2 June 1982) was a Czechs, Czech screenwriter, film director, writer and artist. His most famous literary and cinematic work is ''Lemonade Joe'' (1964). Life Jiří Josef František Brdečka was born in Hranice (Přerov District), Hranice on 24 December 1917 to a literary family. His father, Otakar Brdečka (1881–1930), was a writer under the pseudonym Alfa. He graduated from the high school in Hranice, then he studied philosophy and aesthetics at the Charles University in Prague until 1939, when the school was closed as a result of the Occupation of Czechoslovakia (1938–1945), occupation of Czechoslovakia by Nazi Germany. He then became an administrative clerk at the City of Prague Museum and found occasional work as a newspaper journalist and cartoonist. The dime novel is a form of late 19th-century and early 20th-century American popular fiction issued in series of inexpensive paperbound editions. Eugene Merril Deitch (August 8, 1924 – April 16, 2020) was an American illustrator, animator, comics artist, and film director who was based in Prague from the 1960s until his death in 2020. František Němec (actor)
František Němec (born 9 August 1943) is a Czech actor, dubber, and theater pedagogue. Education and career Němec studied acting at Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, DAMU from 1960 to 1964 and has been teaching there since 1982. He went on to work at Městská divadla pražská, where he stayed until 1982. That year, he received an offer from theatre director Miroslav Macháček to take on the titular role in William Shakespeare, Shakespeare's ''Hamlet'' at the National Theatre (Prague), National Theatre in Prague. He remains a member of the National Theatre's drama company to this day. In 1998, Němec won a Thalia Awards, Thalia Award for Drama – Men. In 2021, he received the František Filipovský Award for long-term acting mastery in dubbing, and a year later, the Thalia Award for Lifetime Achievement.
