Adán Torres
Adán Torres (born September 11, 1923, date of death unknown) was an Argentine runner. He competed in the men's 800 metres at the 1948 Summer Olympics. In 1947, Torres set an Argentinian record of 1:53.7 to win the 800 m gold medal at the 1947 South American Championships in Athletics. His record was broken by Julio Ferreyra, who ran 1:53.6 at the 1951 Pan American 800 m. Torres won a silver medal in the 4 × 400 m at the 1952 South American Championships in Athletics. Athletics At The 1948 Summer Olympics – Men's 800 Metres
The men's 800 metres event at the 1948 Olympic Games took place July 30, July 31 and August 2. Forty-one athletes from 24 nations competed. The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The final was won by the American Mal Whitfield. It was the first of Whitfield's two wins in the event, the second of four consecutive American victories, and the fifth overall United States win in the 800 metres. Arthur Wint earned Jamaica's first Olympic medal in any event with silver; he would take gold in the 400 metres a few days later. Marcel Hansenne took France's first 800 metres medal with bronze. Julio Ferreyra (runner)
Julio Daniel Ferreyra (1 July 1942 – 5 August 2023) was an Argentine politician who served as National Deputy representing Jujuy Province. A member of the Justicialist Party, Ferreyra was Director of the Jujuy Civil Registry for twenty years, from 1999, until being elected to Congress in 2019. He sat in the Frente de Todos parliamentary bloc. At the time of his death, he was the oldest serving member of the Chamber of Deputies. Early and personal life Ferreyra was born on 1 July 1942 in San José de Metán, Salta Province. He was married and has three children, including one daughter. Political career Ferreyra was elected to the City Council of Palpalá, Jujuy Province, in 1983. He ran for the Movimiento Popular Jujeño (MPJ), a regionalist party.
