''Adventure Pack I'' is an adventure module published in 1987 for the ''Advanced Dungeons & Dragons'' fantasy role-playing game. It contains a variety of adventure scenarios written by different authors, and received mostly positive reviews. Plot summary ''Adventure Pack I'' is a collection including eight adventure scenarios and three short scenarios, such as investigating a mystery involving a magical circus (written by Warren Spector), a conflict occurring between warring assassins (written by Steve Perrin), and travelling to a spinning castle in the sky belonging to a dying storm giant (written by Jennell Jaquays). The adventures average 8-10 pages in length, and are intended for character levels 4–10. Differences Between Editions Of Dungeons & Dragons
Several different editions of the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' (''D&D'') fantasy role-playing game have been produced since 1974. The current publisher of ''D&D'', Wizards of the Coast, produces new materials only for the most current edition of the game. However, many ''D&D'' fans continue to play older versions of the game and some third-party companies continue to publish materials compatible with these older editions. After the original edition of ''D&D'' was introduced in 1974, the game was split into two branches in 1977: the rules-light system of ''Dungeons & Dragons'' and the more complex, rules-heavy system of ''Advanced Dungeons & Dragons'' (''AD&D''). The standard game was eventually expanded into a series of five box sets by the mid-1980s before being compiled and slightly revised in 1991 as the ''Dungeons & Dragons Rules Cyclopedia''. ''The Book of Lairs'' is an accessory book for the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' fantasy role-playing game, first published by TSR in 1986. It contains an assortment of monster-themed mini-adventures. A second volume was published in 1987. TSR coded the accessories REF3 and REF4 respectively, as part of a series of similarly-coded accessories. Both volumes were received well by critics, with the second being seen more positively than the first. Graeme Davis (born 1958, in Isleworth, England) is a game designer, writer and editor who has worked extensively in the roleplaying game industry. Biography Davis started playing ''Dungeons & Dragons'' in the mid-1970s, shortly after it was first imported into the United Kingdom. After leaving school he worked in the banking industry before studying for a Bachelor of Arts degree in archaeology at the University of Durham in 1979. He graduated in 1982, and started work towards a Doctor of Philosophy degree. Games Workshop's ''White Dwarf'' magazine in 1982 gave Davis his first paid opportunity to write an article about ''Dungeons & Dragons''. Jeff Easley
Jeff Easley (born 1954) is an oil painter who creates fantasy artwork for role-playing games, comics, and magazines, as well as non-fantasy commercial art. Early life Easley was born in Nicholasville, Kentucky in 1954. He spent time drawing as a child, particularly creatures such as ghosts and monsters. An experience point (often abbreviated as exp or XP) is a unit of measurement used in some tabletop role-playing games (RPGs) and role-playing video games to quantify a player character's life experience and progression through the game. Experience points are generally awarded for the completion of missions, overcoming obstacles and opponents, and successful role-playing. In many RPGs, characters start as fairly weak and untrained. Stephen Herbert Perrin (January 22, 1946 – August 13, 2021) was an American game designer and technical writer/editor, best known for creating the tabletop role-playing game ''RuneQuest'' for Chaosium. Early life and education Perrin earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from San Francisco State University. In 1966, Perrin was a founding member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA).
