Description and history It was a two-story, L-shaped brick dwelling constructed in stages between 1828 and 1880. The original section constructed in 1828 was a two-story, three-bay brick residence in the Federal style, the first brick structure in Hornell. The Greek Revival was an architectural movement which began in the middle of the 18th century but which particularly flourished in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, predominantly in northern Europe and the United States and Canada, but also in Greece itself following independence in 1832.
