Adrián Mateos
Adrián Mateos Díaz (born 1 July 1994) is a Spanish professional poker player. At the age of 19, he won the 2013 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event for €1,000,000. He also won an event on the Estrellas Poker Tour in Madrid in January 2013 for €103,000. In May 2015, Mateos won the European Poker Tour Grand Final in Monte Carlo, earning €1,082,000. With the win, he became the first Spanish EPT champion. At 22 years old, he became the youngest player to ever win three WSOP bracelets. As of January 2024, his total live tournament winnings exceed $39 million. The World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet is considered the most coveted non-monetary prize a poker player can win. Since 1976, a bracelet has been awarded to the winner of every event at the annual WSOP. Even if the victory occurred before 1976, WSOP championships are now counted as "bracelets". During the first years of the WSOP only a handful of bracelets were awarded each year. In 1990, there were only 14 bracelet events. By 2000, that number increased to 24. As the popularity of poker has increased during the 2000s, the number of events has likewise increased. In 2011, 58 bracelets were awarded at the WSOP, seven at the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE), and one to the WSOP National Circuit Champion. 2021 World Series Of Poker
The 2021 World Series of Poker (WSOP) was the 52nd edition of the event. It took place from September 30 – November 23 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. A full schedule of 88 live events (plus 11 online events) was held after the 2020 WSOP was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The $10,000 No Limit Hold'em Main Event began on November 4, with the champion being determined on November 17. New events included a $1,000 Flip and Go No Limit Hold'em Tournament, where each player was automatically all-in on the first hand and the winners of the hand will proceed into the money and a traditional tournament structure. There was also be a Poker Hall of Famers Bounty tournament. The European Poker Tour (EPT) is a series of poker tournaments similar to those in the World Poker Tour (WPT), created by John Duthie, winner of the inaugural Poker Million tournament. It began in 2004 as part of the worldwide explosion in Texas Hold 'em popularity. Since 2011 the EPT has been sponsored and wholly owned and controlled by PokerStars the online casino and taped by Sunset + Vine for television broadcast across Europe. In seasons 1-3, the most significant difference between the competing poker tours was the buy-in and its effect on the prize pool, with the EPT featuring buy-ins about half the size of the WPT.
