Adrienne Sternlicht
Adrienne Sternlicht (born 1993) is an American show jumping rider, most notable for being part of the gold medal-winning team at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon, North Carolina. She is most well known for riding the mare, Cristalline. She is ranked 77th in the world as of May 2020. Early life Adrienne Sternlicht was born on May 9, 1993, to Barry Sternlicht and Mimi Sternlicht. Adrienne Sternlicht first rode at a play date when she was six years old. Soon after, she began taking riding lessons and eventually moved to training at Heritage Farm in Katonah, New York, where she became more competitive. She worked with Heritage Farm for five years before moving her horses to closer to her boarding school in Connecticut and began training with Linda Langmeier. While in high school, Sternlicht rode only part-time, instead focusing mostly on academics and being on the squash team for her school. Warmblood
Warmbloods are a group of middle-weight horse types and breeds primarily originating in Europe and registered with organizations that are characterized by open studbook policy, studbook selection, and the aim of breeding for equestrian sport. The term distinguishes these horses from both heavy draft horses ("cold bloods") and refined light saddle horses such as the Thoroughbred, Arabian, and Akhal-Teke ("hot bloods"). Although modern warmbloods are descended from heavier agricultural types systematically upgraded by hotblood influence, the term does not imply that warmbloods are direct crosses of "cold" and "hot". The Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) is an annual equestrian festival running for 12 weeks between January and April in Wellington, Florida. FEI World Equestrian Games
The FEI World Equestrian Games are the major international championships for equestrianism, and are administered by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI). The games have been held every four years, halfway between sets of consecutive Summer Olympic Games, since 1990. Prior to that year, all ten of the FEI's individual disciplines held separate championships, usually in separate countries. The modern WEG runs over two weeks and, like the Olympics, the location rotates to different parts of the world. Show Jumping World Championship
The World Show Jumping Championships, or the show jumping competition at the FEI World Equestrian Games, was started in 1953, with individual competition. In 1978 Team competitions began, and men and women began competing against one another. From 1990, show jumping was brought together along with the other equestrian disciplines into the World Equestrian Games (WEG). They are held every four years.
