Adrian Ryan
Adrian Ryan (born 19 June 1990), is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling with his local club Templederry Kenyons and has been a member of the Tipperary senior inter-county hurling team since 2012. He is a cousin of fellow Tipperary hurler Gearóid Ryan and Gearóid has disowned him since he missed that straight forward free against Lorrah in the 2018 North Quarterfinal. Career On 26 February 2012, Ryan made his senior Tipperary debut against Kilkenny in the 2012 National Hurling League, starting at right half forward in a 2–17 to 0–15 defeat. Templederry Kenyons GAA
Templederry Kenyons GAA is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "North-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred on the village of Templederry. History Templederry affiliated as a club in 1887 with FR J. Frost C.C. and James Coughlan of Latteragh the leading organisers. However, from 1906 to the end of the 1920s the club had very little success. In 1931, a re-united Templederry parish team reached the North Tipperary Intermediate hurling final for the first time and had a comprehensive 7–4 to 3–3 victory over Roscrea. Templederry then went up to Senior but were unable to make the breakthrough and returned to Intermediate ranks in the late 1930s. Hurling
Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. Gearóid Ryan
Gearóid Ryan (born 26 August 1988) is an Irish hurler who played as a midfielder for the Tipperary senior team. Ryan made his first appearance for the team during the 2009 National League and has become a regular player over the last few seasons. During that time he has won two All-Ireland winners' medals and five Munster winners' medals. At club level Ryan is a one-time county intermediate championship medalist with Templederry Kenyons. Playing career Club Ryan plays his club hurling with the Templederry Kenyons club and has enjoyed much success. In 2008 the club claimed the North Tipperary title following a 0-17 to 1-10 defeat of Newport. It was Ryan's first silverware with the club. The Kenyons club later reached the county intermediate championship decider where Newport provided the opposition once again. National Hurling League 2012
The 2012 National Hurling League commenced in February 2012. 34 GAA county hurling teams: 32 from Ireland (including Fingal but not Cavan), London and Warwickshire, contested it. On 6 May Kilkenny defeated Cork in the final to win their 15th NHL title, moving them to second place in the all-time roll of honour, behind Tipperary who have won 19 Leagues. Format The 2012 format was originally to consist of five divisions: Divisions 1 and 2 having eight teams in each, Division 3A six, Division 3B seven, and six teams in Division 4. However, this was controversially altered to a system of six divisions, with six teams in divisions 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B and 3A, and four in division 3B. This meant that many counties were effectively relegated to a lower division. Waterford Crystal Cup
The Waterford Crystal Cup was an annual hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association from 2006 to 2015 for the top inter-county teams and third-level institutes and universities in the province of Munster in Ireland. The series of games were played during January and February. The prize for the winning team is a special piece of glassware donated by Waterford Crystal.
