Adrian Gibson
Adrian Gibson (3 November 1935 – 30 April 2015) was an Australian politician. Born in Hobart, Tasmania, he was educated there at Hutchins School and at the University of Tasmania where he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 1959. He became a barrister in 1959, as well as a company director and grazier. In 1964, he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as a member of the Liberal Party, winning a by-election for the seat of Denison. He held the seat until his retirement in 1969. Gibson was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) on Australia Day, 2014, for service to the arts, to agriculture, and to the Parliament of Australia. Order Of Australia
The Order of Australia is an honour that recognises Australian citizens and other persons for outstanding achievement and service. It was established on 14 February 1975 by Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia, on the advice of the Australian Government. Before the establishment of the order, Australian citizens received British honours. The Monarch of Australia is sovereign head of the order, while the Governor-General of Australia is the principal companion/dame/knight (as relevant at the time) and chancellor of the order. Armadale, Victoria
Armadale is an inner suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 7 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Stonnington local government area. Armadale recorded a population of 9,368 at the 2021 census. The suburb has its own railway station, as well as Toorak railway station, which is also in Armadale. It is bordered by Glenferrie Road to the east, Orrong Road to the west, Malvern Road to the north and Dandenong Road/Princes Highway to the south. History Armadale is named after Armadale, Sutherland in Scotland. This was because one of Armadale notable residents, James Munro, 15th Premier of Victoria, was born in Armadale, Sutherland. The Division of Denison was an Australian electoral division in Tasmania, before being replaced by the Division of Clark as part of a 2016–17 redistribution. History The division was one of the five established when the former Division of Tasmania was redistributed on 2 October 1903 and is named for Sir William Denison, who was Lieutenant Governor of Van Diemen's Land 1847–55. It was located in central Hobart on the western shore of the River Derwent.
