Adonis Alexander
Adonis K. Alexander (born November 7, 1996) is an American football cornerback for the New Orleans Breakers of the United States Football League (USFL). He played college football at Virginia Tech, and was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL supplemental draft. Early years and college career Alexander attended Independence High School in the city. He then attended Virginia Tech, and was ruled academically ineligible for his final year, preventing him from entering the 2018 NFL Draft. However, he entered in to the 2018 NFL supplemental draft. Professional career Washington Redskins Alexander was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the sixth round of the 2018 supplemental draft. Alexander was waived on August 31, 2019, but was signed to the practice squad the following day. He was released on October 1, 2019. Cornerback
A cornerback (CB) is a member of the defensive backfield or secondary in gridiron football. Cornerbacks cover receivers most of the time, but also blitz and defend against such offensive running plays as sweeps and reverses. They create turnovers through hard tackles, interceptions, and deflecting forward passes. Other members of the defensive backfield include strong and free safeties. The cornerback position requires speed, agility, strength, and the ability to make rapid sharp turns. A cornerback's skill set typically requires proficiency in anticipating the quarterback, backpedaling, executing single and zone coverage, disrupting pass routes, block shedding, and tackling. United States Football League (2022)
The United States Football League (USFL) is a professional American football minor league that began play on April 16, 2022. The inaugural 2022 regular season was played in its entirety in Birmingham, Alabama. The postseason games were played in Canton, Ohio, at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. The league is currently owned by National Spring Football League Enterprises Co, LLC, a joint venture between founder Brian Woods and Fox Corporation's sports unit, Fox Sports in the United States. Although the league owns the trademarks of the old USFL, which operated for three seasons during the mid-1980s, the new USFL is not officially associated with that entity. 2022 USFL Draft
The 2022 USFL Draft, also known as the 2022 USFL Player Selection Meeting, was the player selection process to fill the rosters of the eight teams for the 2022 USFL season. The draft was held on February 22–23, 2022, with results released through the USFL's social media channels. Structure The USFL player allocation process will be held in multiple phases, separated by position groups. The league will use a "snake" format in each phase, in which the draft order reversed with each round. The draft order will be shuffled for each phase as predetermined through lotteries. A draft pool of 450–500 players are eligible to be picked after signing contracts before hand. The first five phases are scheduled for February 22, with the final two phases occurring on February 23.
