Adolfo Loning
Adolf or Adolfo Loning was a German official and writer who served as a lieutenant in the Spanish Royal Guard, Guardia Real of Ferdinand VII of Spain during the 1830s. Spanish Royal Guard
The Royal Guard ( es, Guardia Real) is an independent regiment of the Spanish Armed Forces that is dedicated to the protection of the King of Spain and members of the Spanish Royal Family. It currently has a strength of 1,500 troops. While the guard does participate in parades and other ceremonial events, it is a fully functional combat unit. Its members are recruited from the ranks of all three branches of the Spanish Armed Forces and receive the same combat training as regular soldiers. The guard contains a diverse mix of units: a Royal Marines company from the Navy, a paratroop company from the Air and Space Force and an infantry company from the Army, among others. Merindad De Zornotza
''Merindad'' () is a Mediaeval Spanish administrative term for a country subdivision smaller than a province but larger than a municipality. The officer in charge of a merindad was called a merino, roughly equivalent to the English ''count'' or ''bailiff''. It was used in the kingdoms of Castile and Navarre. Connected to the birth of Castile, the Merindades, standing for a northernmost ''comarca'' of the province of Burgos, was part of the creation of the administrative division by King Peter. Currently, the Foral Community of Navarre is still divided into five ''merindades'' standing for different judicial districts. The historic ''Merindad de Ultrapuertos'' lying to the north of the Pyrenees is nowadays Lower Navarre. Administratively, they have been substituted by the ''partido judicial''.
