Admiralty FC, often referred to as Admiralty Palaiau, Admiralty Paliau, Admiralty Peliau or Admiralty Peliou, was a semi-professional association football club based in Manus Province, Papua New Guinea. Founded in 2013, the side took part in three consecutive Papua New Guinea National Soccer League seasons starting in 2014, before splitting from the division and joining the National Premier League ahead of the 2017 season. The side had struggled to find success in these competitions, however, having failed in all five previous seasons to qualify for the championship playoffs. History In late 2013, it was reported that a side with the name of Admiralty FC were one of two new teams ahead of the 2014 Papua New Guinea National Soccer League season. The side is owned by an arm of the Manus Provincial Government, Admiralty Peliau Limited, which is 100 percent owned by the people of Manus. The KPHL National Soccer League, also known as the Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited National Soccer League for sponsorship reasons, is the men's top division of professional soccer in Papua New Guinea. It is a nationwide league formed in 2006 by Papua New Guinea Football Association. It replaced the Papua New Guinea National Club Championship as the country's major soccer competition. In its 13 seasons, the competition has been won by only two clubs: Hekari United won the first eight editions, while Lae City have won the last six. The two clubs have met in two Grand Finals, in 2015–16 and 2019, with Lae City winning both.
