Kamchatka Oblast was a federal subject of Russia until June 30, 2007. Kamchatka Oblast
Kamchatka Oblast (russian: Камча́тская о́бласть, ''Kamchatskaya oblast'') was, until being incorporated into Kamchatka Krai on July 1, 2007, a federal subject of Russia (an oblast). To the north, it bordered Magadan Oblast and Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. Koryak Autonomous Okrug was located in the northern part of the oblast. Including the autonomous okrug, the total area of the oblast was , encompassing the southern half of the Kamchatka Peninsula. The administrative center of Kamchatka Oblast was the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Population: Kamchatka's natural resources include coal, gold, mica, pyrites, and natural gas. Bystrinsky District (russian: Быстри́нский райо́н) is an administrativeLaw #46 and municipalLaw #238 district (raion) of Kamchatka Krai, Russia, one of the eleven in the krai. Ust-Kamchatsk (russian: Усть-Камча́тск) is a rural locality (a settlement) and the administrative center of Ust-Kamchatsky District of Kamchatka Krai, Russia, located on the eastern shore of the Kamchatka Peninsula at the mouth of the Kamchatka River some away from the Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano and from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
