Adele Marcus
Adele Marcus (February 22, 1906 May 3, 1995) was an American pianist and instructor whose career was based at the Juilliard School in New York City. Life and career Marcus was born in Kansas City, Missouri, the youngest of 13 children of a rabbi and his wife, who were of Russian descent. When the family moved to Los Angeles, Marcus and her sister Rosamund formed a piano duo, locally known as the Two Prodigies, and were the students of Desider Josef Vecsei and Alexis Kall. She later studied under Josef Lhévinne and Artur Schnabel in New York City. After winning the Walter W. Naumburg Foundation Award in 1928, she made a series of solo recital debuts in Chicago, San Francisco and New York City. Panayis Lyras
Panayis Lyras, earlier known as Panaghis Lykiardopoulos or Panayis Lykiardopoulos, is an American classical pianist. Lyras was born in Athens, Greece, in 1953. At age six he attended the Athens Conservatoire and emigrated with his family to America in 1966. He attended the famed High School of Performing Arts in New York City and soloed in 1972 at the school's annual Concerto Concert. He played a Rachmaninoff piano concerto. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Juilliard School. Daniel Lessner
Daniel Lessner is an American composer and virtuoso pianist currently based in Los Angeles. Biography Daniel Lessner began his piano studies at the age of four in Miami, Florida. He played his first recital at eleven, and by the age of eighteen he had won over a hundred local and national performance competitions. He entered the Juilliard School of Music in New York city on scholarship to study with the renowned teacher Adele Marcus, and while there won the Tchaikovsky Concerto Competition which he performed at Lincoln Center under the baton of Massimo Freccia. Byron Janis (born March 24, 1928) is an American classical pianist. He made several recordings for RCA Victor and Mercury Records, and occupies two volumes of the Philips series ''Great Pianists of the 20th Century''. His discography covers repertoire from Bach to David W. Guion and includes major piano concertos from Mozart to Rachmaninoff and Liszt to Prokofiev. Stephen Hough
Sir Stephen Andrew Gill Hough (; born 22 November 1961) is a British-born classical pianist, composer and writer. He became an Australian citizen in 2005 and thus has dual nationality (his father was born in Australia in 1926). Biography Hough was born in Heswall (then in Cheshire) on the Wirral Peninsula, and grew up in Thelwall, where he began piano lessons at the age of five. His father, who was born in Australia, worked as a technical representative for British Steel before his death at the age of 54. Sergio Calligaris (born January 22, 1941) is a pianist, composer and piano teacher. After living and tutoring in the United States, where he gained his doctorate in music, Calligaris established his residence in Italy in 1974. The pianist Calligaris was born in Rosario, Argentina.
