Adele Duttweiler
Adele Duttweiler (29 December 1892 – 27 May 1990) was a Swiss philanthropist and the wife of Gottlieb Duttweiler, founder of both the Migros group and the LdU political party. Early life Adele Bertschi was born on 29 December 1892 in Horgen on Zürichsee lakeshore. Her mother was Maria, née Antille, her father was Samuel, who had emigrated to the US, where he founded a ribbon weaving mill. When his first wife died, he returned as a "made man" back to Switzerland. He married Maria Antille, who originates from the Canton of Valais. The couple moved to Horgen, where they acquired the "In Rüsler" farm where Adele grew up. Her father died when Adele was at the age of eight years. Adele's mother was described as a ''purposeful and spirited woman who had to cope with all sorts of harassment after the early death of her man''. Klubschule
Klubschule is a group of adult education programs initiated by Adele and Gottlieb Duttweiler. The literally ''club school'' is a brand of the Swiss Migros group which provides courses and programmes at about 50 locations throughout Switzerland. History Gottlieb Duttweiler and his wife Adele Duttweiler founded the present Migros group, and in 1948 the Migros cooperative started to provide language courses for its members. Today, more than 600 different courses are offered by the Klubschule program, being the largest further education institution in Switzerland. "Providing access to education" for the general public, companies and public services has been an important social and cultural goal. Adele (1952 Ship)
''Adele'' was a Swiss cargo ship, later the merchant ship ''Sunadele''. Initiated by Gottlieb Duttweiler and named after Adele Duttweiler, she served in the Merchant Marine of Switzerland. Reederei Zürich AG In Winter 1943 Gottlieb Duttweiler and the Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund, Zürich, withdrew from the shipping company Maritime Suisse S.A. originally planned to establish the Merchant Marine of Switzerland during World War II. Fraumünster
The Fraumünster (; lit. in en, Women's Minster, but often wrongly translated to urLady Minster) is a church in Zürich which was built on the remains of a former abbey for aristocratic women which was founded in 853 by Louis the German for his daughter Hildegard. The Lindenhof, in the old town of Zürich, Switzerland, is the historical site of the Roman castle, and the later Carolingian Kaiserpfalz. It is situated on Lindenhof hill, on the left side of the Limmat at the Schipfe. In 1747, a second-century Roman tombstone was discovered at the site, bearing the oldest attestation of ''Turīcum'', the Roman-era name of Zürich, as ''STA ioTURIC nsis', at the time a tax-collection point.
