Yoruba (, ; Yor. '; Ajami script, Ajami: ) is a language spoken in West Africa, primarily in South West (Nigeria), Southwestern Middle Belt, and Central Nigeria. It is spoken by the Ethnic group, ethnic Yoruba people. The number of Yoruba speakers is roughly 50 million, plus about 2 million second-language speakers. Adebowale Ibidapo Adefuye (January 1947 – August 27, 2015) was a Nigerian historian and diplomat. Academic career Born in Ijebu-Igbo, Adefuye attended the University of Ibadan, first graduating in 1969. He obtained a Ph.D in history from the same institution in 1973. During his academic career, Adefuye was named a Fulbright Scholar and used the funds to do research at Columbia University, the University of North Florida, and the University of Florida. Adefuye taught at the University of Lagos, heading the school's history department from 1985 to 1987. Diplomatic career He was named the Ambassador to Jamaica in 1987, serving until 1991. During that period, Adefuye also concurrently served as the ambassador to Belize and Haiti. He was then the Deputy High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. Bayo Adebowale (born 6 June 1944) is a Nigerian novelist, poet, professor, critic, librarian and founder of the African Heritage Library and Cultural Centre, Adeyipo, Ibadan Oyo State Early life and education He was born on 6 June 1944 in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, Southwestern Nigeria into the family of Akangbe Adebowale, who was a farmer. Bayo obtained his West African School Certificate from Secondary Modern School Ibadan in 1958 after which he proceeded to St Peter's Teacher College where he received the Grade III certificate in education in 1961. Emmanuel William Oluwarotimi Adebowale (born 19 September 1997) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender. He is currently a free agent. Adebowale started his career at West Ham United, before continuing his development at Sheffield United. Murder Of Lee Rigby
On the afternoon of 22 May 2013, a British Army soldier, Fusilier#United Kingdom, Fusilier Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, was attacked and killed by Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale near the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, South London, southeast London. Victor Olufemi Adebowale, Baron Adebowale, (; born 21 July 1962) is the former Chief Executive of the social care enterprise Turning Point, current Chair of the NHS Confederation and was one of the first individuals to become a People's Peer.
