Adama Haman
Adama (Oromo language, Oromo: ' or ', Amharic: አዳማ), formerly Nazreth ( am, ናዝሬት), is a city in the central Oromia Region of Ethiopia. Located in the East Shewa Zone southeast of the capital, Addis Ababa, the city sits between the base of an escarpment to the west, and the Great Rift Valley, Ethiopia, Great Rift Valley to the east. Overview Adama is a busy transportation center. The city is situated along the road that connects Addis Ababa with Dire Dawa. A large number of trucks use this same route to travel to and from the port, seaports of Djibouti and Asseb (though the latter is not currently used by Ethiopia, following the Eritrean-Ethiopian War). Addis Ababa–Adama Expressway
The Addis Ababa–Adama Expressway (, ) is a toll road that connects Addis Ababa to Adama. It is the first Controlled-access highway, expressway in Ethiopia. The road was built between 2010 and 2014 by the China Communications Construction, China Communications Construction Company. The government opened the highway for traffic on September 14, 2014. The Government of Ethiopia covered 43 percent of the road's construction cost, while the remaining 57 percent was supplied by a loan from the Exim Bank of China. The highway, with six lanes on two sides for its length, aims to abate the heavy traffic between its two endpoints. It reduces the time required to reach Adama from Addis Ababa to 45 minutes, a reduction of more than 50 percent over the time on previously available routes. Escarpment
An escarpment is a steep slope or long cliff that forms as a result of faulting or erosion and separates two relatively level areas having different elevations. The terms ''scarp'' and ''scarp face'' are often used interchangeably with ''escarpment''. Some sources differentiate the two terms, with ''escarpment'' referring to the margin between two landforms, and ''scarp'' referring to a cliff or a steep slope. Euphorbia Candelabrum
''Euphorbia candelabrum'' is a succulent species of plant in the family Euphorbiaceae, one of several plants commonly known as candelabra tree. It is endemic to the Horn of Africa and eastern Africa along the East African Rift system. It is known in Ethiopia by its Amharic name, ''qwolqwal'', or its Oromo name, '. It is closely related to three other species of ''Euphorbia'': ''Euphorbia ingens'' in the dry regions of southern Africa, ''Euphorbia conspicua'' from western Angola, and ''Euphorbia abyssinica'', which is native to countries including Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Somalia. Its Latin name derives from its growth habit, often considered to resemble the branching of a candelabrum. The Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) (Amharic: የኢትዮጵያ እግር ኳስ ፌዴሬሽን) is the governing body of football in Ethiopia. It organizes all tiers of the national football league and the national team. It was one of the founding members of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). History The Ethiopian Football Federation was founded in 1943 and became affiliated with FIFA in 1952. In 1957 the EFF along with its Egyptian, Sudanese, and South African counterparts founded CAF. In October 2013, the federation elected Juneidi Basha as its new president to replace Sahilu Gebrewold. Beating out three other candidates, Basha received the majority of votes (55 of the 101 votes) at the Federation's General assembly. Adama City Football Club ( oromo: ''Garee Kubbaa Miilaa Magaalaa Adaamaa''; Amharic: አዳማ ከትማ እግር ኳስ ክለብ), is an Ethiopian professional football club based in Adama. They play in the Ethiopian Premier League, the top division in Ethiopian football. History The club was founded in 1991 (1983 E.C.). Adama City briefly held the top spot late in the 2017–18 Ethiopian Premier League season before eventually finishing 5th.
