Adam Tanner (footballer)
Adam David Tanner (born 25 October 1973) is an English former professional footballer. Career Tanner began his career with Ipswich and signed a professional contract at the start of the 1992-93 season, not making a league debut until 2 January 1995 in which season Ipswich were relegated from the Premier League On 4 February 1997, Tanner was suspended by the Football Association for three months when a drugs test uncovered traces of cocaine in his blood. In November 1999, Tanner was arrested after colliding with a parked car in Witham. As he failed to stop at the scene of the accident he was later arrested and a blood test showed that he was three times over the legal alcohol limit for driving. In January 2000 he admitted the offence in court. In February 2000 he was spared a prison sentence and instead ordered to do 80 hours of community service, placed on probation for 12 months, banned from driving for three years and released by Ipswich in the same month. Maldon, Essex
Maldon (, locally ) is a town and civil parish on the Blackwater estuary in Essex, England. It is the seat of the Maldon District and starting point of the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation. It is known for Maldon Sea Salt which is produced in the area. History Early and medieval history The place-name ''Maldon'' is first attested in 913 in the ''Anglo-Saxon Chronicle'', where it appears as ''Maeldun''. Maldon's name comes from ''mǣl'' meaning 'monument or cross' and ''dūn'' meaning 'hill', so translates as 'monument hill'. East Saxons settled the area in the 5th century and the area to the south is still known as the Dengie Peninsula after the Dæningas. It became a significant Saxon port with a hythe or quayside and artisan quarters. Evidence of imported pottery from this period has been found in archaeological digs. Layer Road
Layer Road was a Football League stadium in Colchester, England. It was only used for football matches and was the home ground of Colchester United before being replaced by the Colchester Community Stadium. The stadium held spectators and was built in 1907, originally for use by Colchester Town Football Club. Layer Road has often had up to packed into the ground, when Colchester had been on a good FA Cup run, before the capacity was reduced to . The record attendance at Layer Road is for an FA Cup fixture against Reading in November 1948, a match that was abandoned. The ground was also used to host Sudbury Town's FA Cup match against Brentford in 1996, as their Priory Stadium was deemed unfit. A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders.
