Adam Sampson
Adam Sampson (born 13 June 1960) was previously the Chief Ombudsman of the Legal Ombudsman, the free service that investigates complaints about lawyers in England and Wales. He took up the post on 1 July 2009: prior to this he was the chief executive of the charity Shelter for seven years. He was dismissed in November 2014 after ‘irregularities’ were found with his expenses claims. As of 2012 he was the chair of the charity FareShare FareShare is a charity network aimed at relieving food poverty and reducing food waste in the UK, which has been running since 1994. It does this by obtaining good quality surplus food from the food industry that would otherwise have gone to wast ..., a Commissioner on the UK Drug Policy Commission and non-executive chairman of C4H, a community interest housing company. Legal Ombudsman
The Legal Ombudsman is an ombudsman service that opened in October 2010. It is a free service that investigates complaints about lawyers in England and Wales. The Legal Ombudsman was set up as a result of the Legal Services Act 2007 and took over from the Legal Complaints Service and other legal complaint-handling bodies. The current Chief Ombudsman is Paul McFadden, who replaced Rebecca Marsh in January 2021, Marsh having left the post in the summer of 2020 after being in post since April 2019. The Legal Ombudsman is a member of the Ombudsman Association. Governance and jurisdiction Sections 114 and 115 of the Legal Services Act 2007 established the Office for Legal Complaints and stipulated that it must operate an ombudsman scheme. Shelter (charity)
Shelter is a registered charity that campaigns for tenant rights in Great Britain. It gives advice, information and advocacy to people and lobbies government and local authorities for new laws and policies. It works in partnership with Shelter Cymru in Wales and the Housing Rights Service in Northern Ireland. The charity was founded in 1966 and raised 48.2 million pounds in 2020/21. Shelter helps people in housing need by providing advice and practical assistance, and campaigns for better investment in housing and for laws and policies to improve the lives of homeless and badly housed people. FareShare
FareShare is a charity network aimed at relieving food poverty and reducing food waste in the UK, which has been running since 1994. It does this by obtaining good quality surplus food from the food industry that would otherwise have gone to waste and sending it to almost 11,000 charity and community groups across the United Kingdom via the network partners. FareShare only redistributes food inside its use by date; in 2019/20 it obtained and redistributed over 24,000 tonnes of food which would have otherwise gone to waste or landfill. FareShare works with all sectors of the supply chain; producers, manufacturers and retailers. A number of the major UK food retailers have encouraged their suppliers to work with FareShare to minimise food waste.
