Adam McIlroy Allan (12 September 1904 – after 1937) was a professional association footballer who played at centre half. He played for Falkirk, Sunderland, Reading and Queen of the South. Early years Adam Allan was born in Newarthill, Scotland. Adam Allan started his senior career with Falkirk. Sunderland Allan moved South to join Sunderland. His debut was 27 August 1927 in a 3-3 draw against Portsmouth at home. He was there for three seasons with his last game being a 4-1 defeat away against Everton on 3 May 1930. Newarthill
Newarthill is a village in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, situated roughly three miles north-east of the town of Motherwell. It has a population of around 6,200. Most local amenities are shared with the adjacent villages of Carfin, Holytown and New Stevenston which have a combined population of around 20,000 across the four localities. Willie Fotheringham
William Cowan Fotheringham (1899 – 1981) was a Scottish footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He made over 700 first team league and cup appearances during his career with Dundee, Morton, Queen of the South, Airdrieonians and St Mirren, and was later manager of the latter two clubs as well as Cowdenbeath. Jackie Law, Sr
Jackie Law Sr. (died 1959) was a professional association footballer who played as a striker for Airdrieonians and Queen of the South. After spending five seasons with Airdrie, Jackie Law Sr. requested a transfer with Queen of the South the club to gain his services just after the club's George McLachlan managed tour to Europe and Algiers. Law was soon club captain and popular with fans. Like the rest of his contemporaries his professional football career was put on hold in 1939 due to World War Two. Post war, Scottish football on a national scale was resurrected in 1946, the year Law was given a testimonial by Queens. The testimonial match was against Preston North End at Palmerston Park. His last season at Queens was 1948-49 after which he retired from professional football. Law scored 71 goals for Queens placing him 14th on the club's all time goal-scoring charts. Joe Tulip
Joe Tulip (died 1979) was an English footballer best known for his time at Dumfries club Queen of the South. Career Tulip was one of the first Englishmen to play in the Scottish League. His discovery was quite unique as he was spied by a Dumfries policeman on holiday in the north of England who then recommended him to the Queens directors. He was snapped up and made his debut on 11 November 1933 against Rangers at Palmerston. Laurie Cumming
Laurence Stanley Slater Cumming (10 April 1905 – 19 November 1980) was a professional footballer and journalist, born in Derry, Ireland. Cumming played for Alloa Athletic, Huddersfield Town, Oldham Athletic, Southampton, Queen of the South, St Mirren and Hamilton Academical. All of his international appearances were at inside-left, though at club level he was capable of switching between the number eight and ten shirts. 5 foot 11 and 12 stone 4, Laurie Cumming's sand dancing, clever ball control and finishing ability made him a great attraction wherever he played. Willie Culbert was a former Scottish footballer best known with Dumfries club Queen of the South. Queen of the South Willie Culbert was a 1932 Queen of the South signing from Clyde. Culbert was one of the mainstays of the side that were promoted to the division for the first time when they ended their 1932-33 campaign with a victory over divisional champions Hibs. Willie Savage
William Savage (1888–1961) was a Scottish footballer who played as a full back for Queen of the South from 1932 to 1946. Early days Savage was a native of Burnbank, Lanarkshire, who began his football as an inside forward at the local St Cuthbert School and represented Lanarkshire elementary schools against Glasgow. On leaving school he played in the junior league as centre forward for his local club Burnbank. Three seasons later he went to St Cuthbert C.Y.M.S. This was a one-season stay before returning to Burnbank for a further season. The next season, he was with Falkirk side Shieldhill Thistle. He played for the Hamilton 'A' team before rejoining the junior league with Motherwell Juniors.
