''Adam-12'' is an American television police procedural crime drama television series created by Robert A. Cinader and Jack Webb. The series follows Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers Pete Malloy and Jim Reed as they patrol the streets of Los Angeles in their police cruiser, designated "1-Adam-12". Like Webb's other series, ''Dragnet'' and ''Emergency!'', ''Adam-12'' was produced in cooperation with the real department it was based on (in this case the LAPD). ''Adam-12'' aimed to be realistic in its depiction of police, and helped to introduce police procedures and jargon to the general public in the United States. The series stars Martin Milner and Kent McCord, with several recurring co-stars, the most frequent being William Boyett and Gary Crosby. ''Adam-12'' (also known as ''The New Adam-12'') is a syndicated revival of the 1968–1975 series of the same name. Like the original, this program focused on the daily jobs and lives of two police officers whose patrol car is designated "Adam-12". Martin Milner
Martin Sam Milner (December 28, 1931 – September 6, 2015) was an American actor and radio host. He is best known for his performances on two television series: ''Route 66'', which aired on CBS from 1960 to 1964, and ''Adam-12'', which aired on NBC from 1968 to 1975. Early years Milner was born on December 28, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Mildred (née Martin), a Paramount Theater circuit dancer, and Sam Gordon Milner, who worked as a construction hand and later a film distributor. Sam was a Polish-Jewish immigrant. The family left Detroit when Milner was a young child, moved frequently, and settled in Seattle, Washington by the time he was nine. John Randolph Webb (April 2, 1920 – December 23, 1982) was an American actor, television producer, Television director, director, and screenwriter, who is most famous for his role as Joe Friday, Sgt. Joe Friday in the Dragnet (franchise), ''Dragnet'' franchise, which he created. He was also the founder of his own production company, Mark VII Limited. Kent Franklin McWhirter (born September 26, 1942), known by his stage name Kent McCord, is a retired American actor, best known for his role as Officer Jim Reed on the television series ''Adam-12.'' Life and career McCord was born Kent Franklin McWhirter in Los Angeles, California to Bert and Laura McWhirter. First using his real name on television in 1962 in ''The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet'', he later adopted his stage name. He became a close friend of Rick Nelson and made 44 appearances on the program. He also landed small parts in five Elvis Presley films and (as Kent McWhirter) portrayed a motorcycle courier in ''McHale's Navy'' in the episode "Monkey Business 007". Shaaron Claridge
Shaaron Claridge (born Shaaron Lee Cooper; later Snead; October 1, 1938 – September 15, 2021) was an American second-shift radiotelephone operator or police radio dispatcher at the Van Nuys Division of the Los Angeles Police Department best known for her voice work on the ''Adam-12'' television series. Claridge was born in Los Angeles County, California. At the time of her appointment, women were primarily desired as police radio dispatchers because LAPD psychologists thought that women's voices would have a more soothing and calming effect over the airwaves. The idea was that, should an officer (male) have been pinned down by gunfire and/or wounded, yet was still within radio contact, hearing the female dispatcher's tone would help keep the officer from panicking until back-up arrived at the scene. William Boyett
William Boyett (January 3, 1927 – December 29, 2004) was an American actor best known for his roles in law enforcement dramas on television from the 1950s through the 1990s. Early years Boyett was born in Akron, Ohio, and lived there until the 1940s, when he moved with his family to Los Angeles, California. He won a Shakespeare competition in high school which led to acting jobs in radio. Mark VII Limited was the production company of actor and filmmaker Jack Webb, and was active from 1951 to his death in 1982. Many of its series were produced in association with Universal Television; most of them aired on the NBC television network in the U.S. Coincidentally, NBC and Universal are today part of the same company. The estate of Jack Webb now owns the full rights to the company's library, with the exception of the original 1954 feature film version of '' Dragnet'' (originally released by Warner Bros., but now owned by Universal Pictures), and the films '' Pete Kelly's Blues'' and ''The D.I.'' Frank Comstock
Frank G. Comstock (September 20, 1922 – May 21, 2013) was an American composer, arranger, conductor and trombonist. For television, Comstock wrote and arranged music for major situation comedies and variety shows; his theme and incidental music for ''Rocky and His Friends'' (1959–1964) are probably his best-remembered works. Additionally, his music for ''Adam-12'' earned him a 1971 Emmy nomination. Comstock's recording credits include eight Hi-Lo's albums and backing arrangements for major recording stars.
