Adal Soomro
Dr. Adal Soomro (born Abdul Karim Soomro, 15 August 1955) is a Sindhi language poet and retired academician. He was Director Shaikh Ayaz Chair at Shah Abdul Latif University in Khairpur, Pakistan. He holds a Ph.D. in the history of Sindhi Adabi Sangat, a Pakistani literary organization for which he has also been Secretary. Soomro has written 12 books : one book of prose, three poetry collections, and eight works of children's literature and poetry. When asked about writing in other languages, he explained that because people dream in their native tongue, they express themselves most effectively through it and that preferring to work in a different language would leave his own vulnerable. Commenting on the longevity of poetic works, and on the challenges young poets face, he said they must combine artistic merit with thought while avoiding becoming repetitive. Sindhi Language
Sindhi ( ; , ) is an Indo-Aryan language spoken by about 30 million people in the Pakistani province of Sindh, where it has official status. It is also spoken by a further 1.7 million people in India, where it is a Scheduled languages of India, scheduled language, without any state-level official status. The main writing system is the Perso-Arabic script, which accounts for the majority of the Sindhi literature and is the only one currently used in Pakistan. In India, both the Perso-Arabic script and Devanagari are used. Sindhi has an attested history from the 10th century CE. Sindhi was one of the first languages of South Asia to encounter influence from Persian language, Persian and Arabic following the Umayyad campaigns in India, Umayyad conquest in 712 CE. Shaikh Ayaz
Shaikh Ayaz SI ( ur, , ) born Mubarak Ali Shaikh ( ur, , ) (March 1923 – 28 December 1997) was Sindhi language poet, prose writer and former Vice Chancellor of University of Sindh. He is counted as one of the prominent and great Sindhi poet of Pakistan in general and Sindh in particular. The author of more than 50 books on poetry, biographies, plays and short stories in both Sindhi and Urdu languages. His translations of Shah Jo Risalo, which was written by the 18th-century Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, from Sindhi to Urdu language established him as an authority in his domain. He received Sitara-i-Imtiaz for his literary works and is regarded as a "revolutionary and romantic poet". In 2018, a university, Shaikh Ayaz University, was established and was named after him. Shah Abdul Latif University
Shah Abdul Latif University ( ur, , sd, شاه عبداللطيف يونيورسٽي; abbreviated as SALU), is a public research university located in rural Khairpur of Sindh, Pakistan. The university is named after the mystic poet and spiritualist Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai. The university also maintains teaching campuses in Shikarpur, Shahdadkot and Ghotki. Founded in 1976 as a single campus, the university has grown in both keeping its reputation and physical enlargement whilst developing a strong and transparent system of higher education in the north of Sindh. Khairpur, Pakistan
Khairpur( Sindhi and ur, ) is a city and the capital of the Khairpur District, in Pakistan's Sindh province. History The Talpur dynasty was established in 1783 by Mir Fateh Ali Khan, who declared himself the first ''Rais'', or ruler of Sindh, after defeating the Kalhoras at the Battle of Halani. The death of Mir Sohrab Khan Talpur, founder of the Khairpur branch abdicated power to his eldest son Mir Rustam 'Ali Khan, in 1811. Children's literature or juvenile literature includes stories, books, magazines, and poems that are created for children. Modern children's literature is classified in two different ways: genre or the intended age of the reader.
