Ad Gloriam
''Ad gloriam'' is the first album by the Italian rock band Le Orme. Released in 1969, the album's sound differs significantly from the progressive rock that Le Orme would become known for, having more of a beat and psychedelic rock feel. The record was released on Carlo Alberto Rossi's Milan-based CAR Juke Box label. One of the songs included on the album, "Senti l'estate che torna", had previously competed in 1968 on Un disco per l'estate, a televised music competition run by the Italian Phonographic Association in collaboration with Radiotelevisione Italiana, finishing in the top 24 of 56 songs. Another song, "Ad Gloriam", was remixed by Irish DJ David Holmes for his 2000 album Bow Down to the Exit Sign, under the name "69 Police". David Holmes (musician)
David Holmes (born 25 February 1969) is a Northern Irish musician and composer. He worked as a DJ before releasing several solo albums that have incorporated elements of trip hop, big beat, electronic and rock. In the late 1990s, he also began composing film scores, establishing a long-standing collaboration with director Steven Soderbergh that includes ''Out of Sight'' (1998) and the ''Ocean's'' trilogy. Holmes is currently a member of the band Unloved, whose music has been used extensively in the television series ''Killing Eve'', for which Holmes is also a composer. He has remixed songs for numerous artists and produced albums for Primal Scream. Career Holmes began DJing in Belfast from the age of 15. His first hit was the 1992 track "De Niro" as the Disco Evangelists, with Ashley Beedle and Lindsay Edwards (who later joined Tin Tin Out). Sarangi
The sārangī is a bowed, short-necked string instrument played in traditional music from South Asia – Punjabi folk music, Rajasthani folk music, and Boro folk music (there known as the ''serja'') – in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. It is said to most resemble the sound of the human voice through its ability to imitate vocal ornaments such as ''gamaks'' (shakes) and ''meends'' (sliding movements). Celesta
The celesta or celeste , also called a bell-piano, is a struck idiophone operated by a keyboard. It looks similar to an upright piano (four- or five-octave), albeit with smaller keys and a much smaller cabinet, or a large wooden music box (three-octave). The keys connect to hammers that strike a graduated set of metal (usually steel) plates or bars suspended over wooden resonators. Four- or five-octave models usually have a damper pedal that sustains or damps the sound. The three-octave instruments do not have a pedal because of their small "table-top" design. One of the best-known works that uses the celesta is Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovskys "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" from ''The Nutcracker''. Aldo Tagliapietra
Aldo Tagliapietra (born February 20, 1945) is an Italian singer, songwriter and musician best known for his work with the progressive rock band Le Orme. Biography Aldo Tagliapietra was born in Murano on February 20, 1945. The son of a master glassmaker, he graduated in theory and solfeggio at the Conservatory of Padua. He formed his first band in 1962 (The Corals) and in 1966 formed Le Orme. Le Orme went on to become one of the most widely recognised Italian progressive rock acts, and were active until 1982 when the group went on hiatus. In 1984 Tagliapietra released his first solo album ''...nella notte''. Le Orme reformed in 1986, releasing four albums over the next 23 years.
