This is a list of discontinued magazines that were published by the Japanese publishing company MediaWorks (publisher), MediaWorks. Most of their magazines center around anime, manga, bishōjo games, or video games. The vast majority of MediaWorks' magazines carry the title which precedes the title of a given magazine; the ''Dengeki'' label is also used on publishing labels, and contests held by the company, making it a well-known trademark for MediaWorks. Magazines Active Japan was a Japanese sports magazine published by MediaWorks (publisher), MediaWorks. It ran between March 1995 and September 1998. The magazine featured information relating to disabled sports. Dengeki Adventures was a Japanese gaming magazine published by MediaWorks (publisher), MediaWorks that featured content relating to Role-playing game, tabletop role-playing games. Gunslinger Girl
''Gunslinger Girl'' (stylized in all caps) is a Japanese manga series by Yu Aida. It began serialization on May 21, 2002 in '' Dengeki Daioh'' and ended on September 27, 2012. The chapters were also published in 15 ''tankōbon'' volumes by ASCII Media Works. Set in modern Italy, the series focuses on young cybernetic girls and their adult male handlers who use them as assassins under the directions of a government organization. The manga series is licensed for an English language release in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment. A thirteen-episode anime adaptation produced by Madhouse aired in Japan on Fuji Television from October 9, 2003, to February 19, 2004. A sequel titled ''Gunslinger Girl -Il Teatrino-'' and created by Artland premiered in Japan on Tokyo MX TV on January 8, 2008. It spanned thirteen episodes, concluding on April 1, 2008. Manga (Japanese: 漫画 ) are comics or graphic novels originating from Japan. Most manga conform to a style developed in Japan in the late 19th century, and the form has a long prehistory in earlier Japanese art. Shakugan No Shana
, also known simply as , is a Japanese light novel series written by Yashichiro Takahashi with illustrations by Noizi Ito. ASCII Media Works published 26 novels from November 2002 to November 2012 under their Dengeki Bunko imprint. The story focuses on Yuji Sakai, a high school boy who inadvertently becomes involved in an age-old conflict between forces of balance and imbalance in existence. In the process, he befriends a fighter for the balancing force and names her "Shana". The series incorporates fantasy and slice of life elements into its tale. Two manga adaptations were published by ASCII Media Works in ''Dengeki Daioh'' and ''Dengeki Maoh''. ''To Heart 2'' (stylized as ''ToHeart2'') is a Japanese romance visual novel developed by Leaf and published by Aquaplus. It was first released for the PlayStation 2 on December 28, 2004 as an all-ages title, and was followed by an adult version playable on Microsoft Windows and subsequent all-ages versions for the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3. This deviated from the release history of the game's predecessor, ''To Heart'', which was originally released with adult content prior to receiving versions with such content removed. The gameplay in ''To Heart 2'' follows a branching plot line with multiple endings, which offers pre-determined scenarios and courses of interaction based on the player's decisions. Its story centers on the male protagonist Takaaki Kouno, and focuses on the appeal of the female main characters. The game was positively received in both sales and popularity. Strawberry Marshmallow
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Barasui about the adventures of four elementary school girls and their older sister-figure. It began serialization in ASCII Media Works' manga magazine ''Dengeki Daioh'' in 2002. In 2005, the manga was adapted into an anime television series and a PlayStation 2 video game. Three original video animation (OVA) episodes were later released from February to April 2007. Another two-episode OVA project titled ''Strawberry Marshmallow Encore'' was released in 2009. Futakoi Alternative
is a Japanese anime television series created by character designer Mutsumi Sasaki and planner & scenario writer Hina Futaba. The series was produced by MediaWorks (publisher), MediaWorks, King Records (Japan), King Records, Lantis (company), Lantis and Yomiko Advertising and animated by Feel (animation studio), Feel, Studio Flag and Ufotable. It ran for 13 episodes from 7 April 2005 to 30 June 2005. The show features many of the characters from the original ''Futakoi'', though the story and settings are completely different. A manga adaptation of the show is illustrated by Kanao Araki. Story ''Futakoi Alternative'' tells the story of Rentarō Futaba and his detective agency. One day a set of twins, Sara and Sōju, show up at his doorstep. They move in with him and work as secretaries for his agency. A starship, starcraft, or interstellar spacecraft is a theoretical spacecraft designed for traveling between planetary systems. The term is mostly found in science fiction. Reference to a "star-ship" appears as early as 1882 in '' Oahspe: A New Bible''. ''Negima! Magister Negi Magi'', known in Japan as , is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Ken Akamatsu. Futakoi
is a light novel, visual novel and anime television series created by Hina Futaba and Mutsumi Sasaki. The anime aired in Japan in 2004. It replaced ''Sister Princess'' as ''Dengeki G's Magazine'' premiere flagship title. Story The story begins with Nozomu Futami returning to the town where he was born and raised as a child. He moves in near a shrine which houses a legendary stone that was rumoured to have been the place where twin girls turned into birds. The stone is rumoured to be the cause of an abundance of twin girls who are born in the town. The twins who turned into birds did so because of their love for a man who couldn't choose between them.
