Action International Pictures (AIP), also known as West Side Studios, is a film production and distribution company founded in 1986. AIP was founded by David Winters, David A. Prior and Peter Yuval. It also provided video distribution for many international films. Winters bought out his partners in 1992. Founding of the Studio The year of its creation, 1986, was a turning point for David Winters. After being overruled on a casting decision for ''Thrashin''', Winters made the professional decision to control all aspects of future projects. AIP was organized by Winters with partners; Prior and Yuval. That year, it set up a distribution arm, AIP Distribution, and a production studio branch, AIP Studios, and decided to introduce two features at the Cannes Film Festival, and Patricia J. Culver City is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 40,779. Founded in 1917 as a "whites only" sundown town, it is now an ethnically diverse city with what was called the "third-most diverse school district in California" in 2020. In the 1920s, the city became a center for film and later television production, best known as the home of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios. ''Deadly Prey'' (released in the Philippines as ''Born to Kill'') is a 1987 action film written and directed by David A. Prior. The film, a very loose adaptation of the short story "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell, stars Ted Prior, David's brother, as a former soldier who is kidnapped for participation in a human safari. Plot Colonel Hogan leads a group of mercenaries. His current client is businessman Don Michaelson. A deal is struck, and Hogan recruits new troops. For training, Hogan orders his troops to kidnap innocent people, take them to the forest and hunt them. One of the people they kidnap, Mike Danton, is ambushed while taking out the trash. West Side Story (musical)
''West Side Story'' is a musical conceived by Jerome Robbins with music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and a book by Arthur Laurents. Inspired by William Shakespeare's play ''Romeo and Juliet'', the story is set in the mid-1950s in the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City, then a multiracial, blue-collar neighborhood. The musical explores the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds. ''Mystery Science Theater 3000'' (abbreviated as ''MST3K'') is an American science fiction comedy film review television series created by Joel Hodgson. The show premiered on KTMA-TV (now WUCW) in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on November 24, 1988. It then moved to nationwide broadcast, first on The Comedy Channel/Comedy Central for seven seasons until its cancellation in 1996. Thereafter, it was picked up by The Sci-Fi Channel and aired for three more seasons until another cancellation in August 1999. A 60-episode syndication package titled ''The Mystery Science Theater Hour'' was produced in 1993 and broadcast on Comedy Central and syndicated to TV stations in 1995. Cameron Mitchell (born Cameron McDowell Mitzell; November 4, 1918 – July 6, 1994) was an American film, television, and stage actor. He began his career on Broadway before entering films in the 1950s, appearing in several major features. Late in his career, he became known for his roles in numerous exploitation films in the 1970s and 1980s. Mitchell began acting on Broadway in the late 1930s before signing a contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and appearing in such films as '' Cass Timberlane'' (1945) and ''Homecoming'' (1948). Plot A female CIA agent is assigned to train and lead an all-female combat squad to Colombia to stop a renegade agent who has hired himself out to a drug cartel and white slaver. David Winters (choreographer)
David Winters (April 5, 1939 – April 23, 2019) was an English-born American actor, dancer, choreographer, producer, distributor, director and screenwriter. At a young age, he acted in film and television projects such as ''Lux Video Theatre''; '' Naked City''; ''Mister Peepers''; '' Rock, Rock, Rock''; and ''Roogie's Bump.'' He received some attention in Broadway musicals for his roles in ''West Side Story'' (1957) and ''Gypsy'' (1959).
