Acid King (EP)
Acid King is an American stoner metal band from San Francisco, California. It was formed in 1993 by frontwoman Lori S., drummer Joey Osbourne and bassist Peter Lucas. Acid King have since recorded four studio albums and two EPs with a series of bassists. The band's name was inspired by the crimes of Ricky Kasso, who murdered his friend Gary Lauwers in Northport, New York on June 19, 1984. Kasso was nicknamed "Acid King" by his peers due to his chronic hallucinogenic drug use. The band's self-titled debut EP features a photograph of Kasso on its cover. The band itself has also been featured in two books – ''The Encyclopedia of Heavy Metal'' and the ''A to Z of Doom, Gothic & Stoner Metal'' – both published in 2003. Down With The Crown
''Down with the Crown'' is an EP by stoner metal band Acid King. It was released twice in 1997 through Man's Ruin Records. The EP was first released in July 1997, on 10" vinyl, and featured three Acid King songs. The EP was reissued a month later on CD, as a split release with Altamont. This CD features the three Acid King songs, in addition to five Altamont songs. The Altamont portion is entitled '' Wanted Dead or Alive''. It was released while Acid King frontwoman Lori S. and Altamont frontman Dale Crover were married. The cover artwork features a topless girl playing air guitar with a pentagram drawn across her chest. The Steve Miller Band is an American rock music, rock band formed in 1966 in San Francisco, California. The band is led by Steve Miller (musician), Steve Miller on guitar and lead vocals. The group had a string of mid- to late-1970s hit singles that are staples of classic rock, as well as several earlier psychedelic rock albums. Miller left his first band to move to San Francisco and form the Steve Miller Blues Band. Hawkwind
Hawkwind are an English rock band known as one of the earliest space rock groups. Since their formation in November 1969, Hawkwind have gone through many incarnations and have incorporated many different styles into their music, including hard rock, progressive rock and psychedelic rock. They are also regarded as an influential proto-punk band. Their lyrics favour urban and science fiction themes. Many musicians, dancers and writers have worked with the band since their inception. Bachman–Turner Overdrive, often abbreviated BTO, were a Canadian rock band from Winnipeg, Manitoba, founded by Randy Bachman, Robbie Bachman and Fred Turner in 1973. Their 1970s catalogue included five top-40 albums and six US top-40 singles (11 in Canada). BTO has five certified gold albums and one certified platinum album in the US; in Canada, they have six certified platinum albums and one certified gold album. The band has sold nearly 30 million albums worldwide, and has fans affectionately known as "gearheads" (derived from the band's gear-shaped logo). Clearlight is an American instrumental rock band from New Orleans, Louisiana. They are also known as the Mystick Krewe of Clearlight due to other bands using the same original name. History The Mystick Krewe of Clearlight was founded in 1996 as an instrumental side-project by members of New Orleans bands Eyehategod, Down, and Crowbar. This project has allowed the members to explore music outside their native metal genre. ''Busse Woods'' is an album by the stoner metal band Acid King. The album was released in 1999 by Man's Ruin Records; it was reissued in 2004, with bonus tracks, by Small Stone Records, and on vinyl in 2007 by Kreation Records. The album's title (pronounced buss-ee) is the local name for the Ned Brown Forest Preserve, which is located near Chicago. As a teenager, frontwoman Lori S. often met there with friends to hang out and take drugs. The reissue of ''Busse Woods'' has slightly different artwork and two extra songs, cover versions of " Motorhead", by Hawkwind, and "Not Fragile", by Bachman-Turner Overdrive. The cover versions were released on the compilation albums ''Daze of the Underground'' and ''In the Groove'', respectively.
